I've finally found a class i enjoy playing (druid) but getting put off by the fact i need many different sets of armor,i mean come on all i wanna do is play and have fun, why can't there be one set for any roll.
I'm a casual player and solo a lot and will join a guild someday but i know from what i've read in forums that a guild would want me to play different rolls as and when needed.
I played a rogue to 70, one set of armor, one roll, a choice of 3 weapons, and a build (combat swords) no complications,i just want to play my druid the way i want and be excepted, but that just aint so is it.

Then just get a DPS/tank set. Get agility on it, but don't skip out on stamina for it either.

Nobody is saying you HAVE to have a healing set all the way to 70.

I had a healing set just for fun until 40ish. Then I de'd everything that was for healing and dropped or I was rewarded. I like healing, but I just don't want to.
Even my tank set is only for 5-man normal and I'm not planning on upgrading it for heroics/raid.
So, if you just want to fullfill one role, you can. No one should force you to do what you don't want to.

So here's the $64 million dollar question, what are druids best at?

My guild was bringing me to kara primarily as DPS. On one or two fights they'd ask me to switch to bear, but even then it was usually me tanking for the purpose of bash, not for the purpose of tanking. Granted, I was trying to get to where I could tank most fights, but my gear wasn't up to par (at no fault of mine).

Now that I'm resto, I only keep my feral stuff in the bank in case I respec. I don't plan on DPSing, I definitely dont plan on tanking, and as I'm sub-balance I don't even need it for soloing.

The only answer to that question is: "What they do."

There's not only one answer for you question. It's situationary (hope I spelled correctly).
For instance, in Arena 2v2, feral druids are useless, while resto druids are kings. But in 5v5, resto druids are not so great and feral druids have their place.
In raids, where the bosses are not bleedable, a feral dps druid will not be really great, but in bleedable they are.
In some Heroics, you will prefer to have tankadins than feral tanks. But in some raid bosses, feral tanks are better.

The truth is, druid are great in everything. You just have to do what you like to.

What is it about druid that you like? Tanking as a bear? Sneaking around as a cat killing stuff fast? Rooting something and blasting it with Wrath/Starfire/Moonfire? Healing? Not knowing how you like to play your druid, it's hard to say why you may want more than one set of gear.

If there was one set of gear that had stats that were good for bears, cats, Balance, and Resto druids, the set would be way overpowered (imagine a mage with 30k armor, 15k health, full-power healing spells, full-power damage spells, and a rogue's melee damage when he runs out of mana). Or, if there was a set that tried to be useful for all druids without being overpowered, it would be weaker in all areas (see druid dungeon 3.5 set, Moonglade Rainment).

Edit:

Being able to switch party-role on the fly. 4 classes can heal, 3 classes can tank, all 9 classes can DPS in one way or another. Druids are the only class that can, with the right gear, DPS, cast a couple heals, Innervate the healer, battle rez someone, then shift to bear and pick up an add.

Wellllll... it's a hybrid class. Versatility is the name of the game, and if you're going to group, that may have to mean multiple sets of eq. Sorry. Maybe you can get a deal with a guild where you only have to do one thing ever. But you still never know what a last-minute situation will call for, and being able to rise to anything is a hallmark of this class.

Your other option is to go the misanthrope route. I never group with my druid. All solo, all one set of eq, all the time. Oh! But I totally MoTW others, does that count as friendly?

ETA: did y'all see how AstarintheDruid is a guru? Did anyone bring cupcakes?

Well, for moonkin, you really only need one set of gear. You may or may not want to level as feral to 40 when you can respec to Balance and get Moonkin form.

Hey.
The thing with Druids is you dont HAVE to do multiple rolls.
As feral with melee which you will relate to with your rogue, you can be the dps melee, or a great tank. As balance you can dps well but heal quite well too with simillar gear. So you dont have to have multiple sets or anything like that, you can insist to do what you want, but if things ***** up bad, you will be king when you swap your role to either healer or tank and save the day.
Thats what druids are meant for Versatility, im sure you have heard that tonnes but thier right, if you dont like that be a pure role class instead.
