What is your current hit rating? We will need to know that in order to figure out if you need the +spell hit enchant instead. Also, please post your armory.

Major Spellpower, it will help all your spells, not just frost. Also, consider the Spell Strike enchant for +15 spell hit if you spell hit rating is still a ways off the cap.

I hate it when someone posts the word "Discuss." as a sentence. It feels like someone's trying to order me to do something, and I don't handle being ordered well.

That said, OP, good luck finding someone who can do the frost power enchant to gloves. I know a priest who looked for an hour or so a day for two weeks for the shadow damage one, and had no luck.

We will really need to know what you plan on doing before the experts here will be able to assist. 40 spell hit is to low for raiding but is ok for PVP. I've gone back and forth on +10 stam or +20 spell dmage on my pvp gloves.

Definitely try to pump up your spell hit rating for heroics/raids, spell hit > all for raiding mages. Damage will follow after you get close to cap.

I would say for raiding really, but I'll go BG's now and then, so a bit of a PvP action is not a bad thing...

Oh and no, no trinkets yet :) My next stop!

If your gonna raid than definitely go Spellstrike in raids spell hit equals #1 stat and considering you only have 40 an extra 15 is only gonna be better for you.

EDIT: also upon looking at your armory, i have a big concern. Your a complete arena spec and you say you want to raid, i would definitely work on that, try a 3/48/11 spec, its pretty much the standard raiding spec.

Thanks mate - very useful.

My char is on a PvE server - are you saying a frost spec is for PvP only? The spec you quote is pretty deep fire.

You can raid as frost, usually a 10/0/51 or 2/0/59 build, but for max damage in the 25 man raids, 10/48/3 or 2/48/11 are the standard builds to pump out damage. 40/21/0 or 40/0/21 are also good for starting mages to increase damage output while upgrading their gear.

As far as pvp 17/0/44 is the industry standard.

Not to hijack this thread but I was under the impression that Arcane builds were not as efficient as Fire builds in straight Raid scenarios due to the high Mana cost. While I understand mana recovery also depends on what your group composition is ... are there any other experienced Mages that recommend a heavy Arcane build for early "career" raids? If so am I missing something?

40/21/0 isn't exactly an arcane build. It's a fire build that gets most of its "oomph" from the arcane tree. It has a better mana efficiency(Arcane Mind/Arcane Meditation) than a pure fire build, and the arcane talents give it an excellent early boost to damage.

What it lacks is scalability. As your gear gets better and better, it falls behind the deep fire builds more and more.

So yes, early raiding, I'd recommend a 40/21/0 build. But as your gear gets better, you just can't beat a 0/47/11 +3 build.

Ok. Let's hijack this hole threat now. As I'm going to be running in kara soon I hope, I'm wondering what spec to go to. Frost has been my leveling build but I will go for fire soon.

Armory will tell you something. I'm getting spellfire set in some point and some pvp-rewards and also some other better gear.

So with that gear what is best build for fire? I was thinking of quite deep fire and not some 40/21/0 etc. I have been reading about many guides for builds but now you mentioned 25man raids and I'm confused should I go for some different build for kara.

My dream and fantasy at the moment would be having also spellstrike set but it's still far far away.

-edit. And if you could also post link to those builds what you suggest so I'm not totally confused =)

-edit2. The build I was thinking looks like this
Pyro is there for fun and soloing mobs.
