What is the best opener agains bosses while dpsing? Pounce or Ravage?
I usually do Ravage, since bosses cant be stunned and hoping for a crit, but sometimes I start with Pounce, followed by a mangle, and I'm thinking that, this way, if Ravage don't crit, I do more damage. Am I thinking correct?

Openeing with a high damage crit against a boss is usually not a very good idea, since you may get some unwated attention.

I always open with pounce if the boss bleeds, and ravage if it doesn't bleed, but keep an eye on your threat meter.

After the patch when even more mob types can bleed, my use of ravage will get even more rare.

Usually mangle and do a normal rotation form there.

Depending on the boss (and his aggro range), the time you spend in stealth moving closer to get an opener could be better spent already in melee range, DPSing. It's the same reason I think Cat's Swiftness (+6 Agi/+8% run speed) is better than Dexterity (+12 Agi). Time not in melee range is time spent doing 0 DPS (except for Rip), every energy tick past 100 when you're not in melee range is energy wasted.

If pounce is your desired opener and you don't want to be stuck creeping in stealth while the rest of your group is already DPSing make sure you save your Dash for right when the tank pulls. This will limit your time missing out on DPS.

Wow, I shoulda paid more attention to the speed chart. I never grokked the fact that "increases run speed slightly" amounts to an 8% speed boost. That's more than "slightly" in my book. Too bad it doesn't stack with feral swiftness outdoors, but I look forward to moving 8% faster in instances. Next time I enchant some new kicks it's gonna be Cat's Swiftness for sure! Thanks for the tip.

I rarely start a fight with an opener, just straight in with a mangle and into my rotation. The only time I do is for nightbane, and that is because I always start that fight stealthed (got 1 shot a couple of times when he landed when I was just standing there!) and my mangle button automatically pounces when I am instealth, so it just sort of happens :)
