Well the time has come for me to respec. I am a BM through and though, but our once little guild has now become a bit of a beast itself. We are no longer just running Kara but doing a lot of 25 man content instead. Our guild does not have all that many hunters in it and even less that are reliability showing up for the 25 mans. That said we mainly have BM hunters and a few MM at the moment however no Survival, EW ftw. Within discussion of the officers, I am really the only candidate for the respect. I have played survival before for a few weeks but would still classify myself a survival nub compared to that of the 1.8 yrs of BM. I am however excited to bring a little something else to the raid.

I am aware of all the agility enchants and gems that will need to be swapped out to get my agility high enough for my EW to become useful. I currently still have a few banked items that have better agility compared to that of the attack power which I am considering using… Terokk’s Quill for example.

I was just wondering if there are any raiding survival hunters that have picked up or know of some good gear that I should be keeping an eye out or farming for. We still run Kara weekly and got my eyes on a few bits in there, eg. Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation.

Any suggestions would be great!

Kara has **** gear for SV... Sad to say but us SV hunters have to wear heroic and reg 5-man gear to 25-man raids.

Look at pre raid sticky has the essential SV options... If you already have something with higher agi in that list pass it.

Yeah, I had a good look at the sticky before, and noticed I already had a quite a few of the "survival" tiped equips. Just thought that there might be some ones missed or some nice ones in Kara. I was even happy to go with leather if the agility was right.

Looks like I will just have to make do with what I've got for now and hit a few more 5 mans.

thanks for your help.

Laughing skull harness, Dexterous gloves are pretty damn good for SV.
Besides that, stuff like the T4 helm, Beastmaw shoulders and sonic spear/Hellfire repspear/legacy are still good.
I dont really like the Quill really, it sacrifices quite a lot of other stats i think.

Here's a list of Survival gear I was planning for my hunter when I was still leveling adamantly, thought I'd share. I did have a number of leather pieces, since I never really knew for sure how mana was (and I had no problems with chainchugging fel mana pots in raids).

Helm: Second Sight -> T4 -> S3
Neck: Necklace of the Deeps -> Worgen Claw
Shoulder: Wastewalker's -> Primal Fury
Back: Craft -> Fiends
Chest: Wastewalker's -> S3
Wrist: Steadying
Hands: Beast Lord's -> Dexterous Manipulation
Waist: Dunewind -> Bladeangel's
Legs: Barbaric -> Void Reaver's/Scaled Marksman
Feet: Fiend Slayer
Rings: Ravenclaw Band/Averinn's Ring of Slaying -> Garona's Signet/Primal Wrath
Weapon: Sonic Spear -> Trollbane
Ranged: Wrathtide -> Sunfury -> Ancient Amani -> S3

Looking back, it might be better to keep Necklace of the Deeps and get Dark Reavers over Cloak of Fiends. Just off the top of my head, I think you'll take a bit of a personal damage loss but gain a significant chunk of agility, and I *think* you'll still be over the hit cap.
Fully buffed, using the best items on that list for each slot, you'll be at just under 1050 agility.

Some of the 2.4 badge gear has a lot of agility. Grind heroics.

my link is my hunter in his SV gear. most of what I have is obtainable in very early raiding. 10 man stuff and gruuls with one piece from trash in TK. May be attainable stuff for you as well from how you describe your guild.

Just remember that you still need to keep your attack power up so AGI isn't the end all be all. You need to raise that as well to keep pace with damage with other classes.

set a goal for yourself it helps and pushes you. I set a personal goal of 800 AGI with 2000attk pwr self buffed(AotH)I am very close to that.

when picking gear do not pay attention to stam and int. its all about AGI and attk pwr. PvP gear except for a few pieces is total crap for PvE, its attk pwr is way to low.

I'm not even gemmed properly really, I could pick up some more AGI but the cost just isn't worth it. Here is my armory

Godly Gear list

For some spare upgrades you can convince your guild to hit up ZA, the axe that drops off the first boss is bettter than legacy.
#11 Mar 17 2008 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
The only axe in za that is better then legacy is trollbane, which is a reward from the timed event, not a drop from a boss. If his guild is just getting started in 25 mans, i highly doubt they would be able to beat the 2nd timed event, although anything is possible.

Yeah, "Second chest" is a better way of putting that. As for order, ZA is well able to be done by Guilds just entering 25 person content. We manage the 2nd chest most runs, have cleared ZA, and our 25 person kills are limited to Gruul (farm), VR (farm), Lurker/Hydross.

My current armory is all my survival gear. There's nothing higher than kara gear from raiding.

The higher rated stuff is either from badges or arena.

As far as I can tell, the only upgrade left for me in the raid content i do (kara and 2 bosses from ZA not timed), is legacy.

With a 2 pally raid, I'll have 935 agility and almost 2300 with raid buffs. If i'm grouped with an +agi totem, I go well over 1K.

I don't think any of the gear i have was hard to obtain. Mostly it was a matter of time with badges and arena pts.
