I have Grid and Clique in the FAQ, I would recommend downloading those and checking them out. They can make your life a lot easier. Also download Pallypower, which is a must if you have more than one paladin in your raid.

Cap, you may be able to answer this.
I've heard of Clique being handy for casters, and healing in particular, but i was curious if it is of any use for Prot.

Might as well ask while the subject is up, and i know you've played both Holy and Prot. Assuming you had the addon already, do you use it at all during Prot spec?

I know grid and Clique are popular around here but just to give another option I find Healbot to be excellent for any kind of healing... it also has the added bonus of freeing up space on my action bar as I assign all my healing spells on healbot.

One thing definitely not to forget is your boss mods. DBM or Bigwigs would be the common choices. A threat meter, if you don't have one already, would be handy but not essential. It can give you a little advanced warning on who may need healing next.

I also use x-perl and bongos to tidy up my UI and organise my raid party display.

Nah I don't use it for prot. There really isn't any point. I don't need to cast something on someone unless something is going wrong. Holy Shield, seals, consecrate, avenger's shield, etc... none of those need to be Cliqued. Righteous Defense is macrod to hit my target of target, and a similar macro can be set up for Blessing of Protection (I didn't make this macro, but I probably should).

Anyway, no I wouldn't bother trying to Clique out your prot spells.

That's what i figured, but i was curious.

I also have the RD macro, and have been considering adding that function to my BoP, it seems logical to do so.

I just need to finish running some dungeons and fine tune my gear some more to increase avoidance...

I have the BoP macro... only thing to consider. The macro I have will cast BoP on me if the target-of-target is out of range. This HAS happened more than I would like (just think of the results ><), mostly on Bosses that require everyone to run around, but if it happens on trash...

Should really look into fixing that, just haven't thought of it when I'm at home until it happens.

Yeah, i've been trying to find a way to have the macro stop in situations like that, or if hate switches back as you cast it, where it would BoP yourself...

So far it seems that there's no way to stop it, at least in the case that targettarget is, or becomes, you. The RD macro will just not go off in these cases, but not so for BoP.

If anyone knows a way to prevent casting it on yourself when using BoP like RD, please let us know.
