Okay, so I'm bored with my Druid.

Three years can do that to even the most devoted player. It's not the class I'm bored with, just the tanking and the getting spanked in PvP. Not that tanking isn't fun, but I'm not really that good at it. If I had a choice I'd go DPS only, but tanks are needed.

So while I'm grinding instances and learning how to maintain aggro on five mobs with a trigger happy Hunter and a Critlock in my group, I'm contemplating switching to Restoration. Or at least getting some gear and a good build to allow for respeccing when I want.

However, being a Feral Druid and switching to Restoration is almost like rolling a new toon. I mean, I can't just switch talent build and go to town in my feral gear. Buttloads of strength and agility isn't going to heal anyone. So I'm gathering gear for it. It's a very long road and I currently have (with my Feral build) +300 healing or so. Yeah, yeah, you can stop laughing now. You don't how many times I've been outrolled by already well-equipped casters. Kind of hard pressing Need when you've got a Priest in the group as well.

Anyway, I got some of the rep rewards from Cenarion (the mace), Terokk's book for off-hand, the Aldor robe for chest, the Steam Vaults quest cloth piece for head, some belt from Steam Vaults as well and a cape from.. uh.. Steam Vaults? Or was it Sethekk Halls? Oh, plus a neck piece from a Sethekk Halls quest.

I think.

Anyways, a small ensemble of crappy healing gear. What I need, though, is shoulders, wrists, hands, legs and feet, plus two rings and possibly some trinkets as well.

But that's not the main topic here. Gear I'll get, somehow. It'll take a while, but I'll get it. What does bug me is finding the right talent build.

I'm going to be using it for PvP and 5-man PvE mostly. Well, only, I guess. I don't really want Tree of Life, because I prefer the mobility of caster form. I also prefer the HoT spells over Healing Touch spam. So I guess I'm looking for a Swiftmend build with spare points in whatever.

21/0/40 for instance. Maximum healing power to all my HoT spells, but no Tree of Life. Plus Nature's Grace and some Balance talents for a little firepower in return.

33/0/28 includes Dreamstate, but lacks Swiftmend. It's more offensive, I guess. I don't know if Swiftmend is worth it, nor the crits from Regrowth. Remember, this will be a run and heal kind of build. Also don't know if one point should be taken out of Dreamstate to get Boomkin. Is it worth it?

Opinions on the two builds?

I use this build for pvp healing.

Can't tell you how great nature's perfection is along with the ability to instantly feral charge/bash when you shift to interrupt heals / root / get outta a tight spot.

This is a completely defensive build though. Picked up tree of life so you can raid heal at your leasure as well.

Which rock have you been hiding under? Enter arena as feral - 'nuff said.

I would go with the last specc Mazra, it's a VERY strong arena and BG specc. Haven't really tried too much raiding with it, but I've been able to heal heroics and kara with it, so it can't be all that bad.

On the gear note go to halaa, do some PvP there, get some marks and you can buy a good healing belt and pants. I "rerolled" my feral druid (almost full s2 /cry) and started with almost the same gear as you got now. All there is to do is suck it up and farm for s1 - that's 1k +heal right there - which should set you up for healing heroics without much problem.
