So we're doing the 2nd half of Kara last night, we kill Shade and what drops but Rapscallion Boots.

Our feral druid main tank says he doesn't want them for a DPS set and the fury warrior already has better, so they basically default to me. I was, needless to say, excited. Yet another blue replaced with an epic.

This is about the point when I equip them and almost vomit.

I gain a whopping 11 AP, while losing 33 hit rating and a negligible .01% to crit over my Fel Leather Boots socketed with an 8 hit gem and a 16 AP gem (yeah I know it sould be 8 agi but I had really low AP when I socketed them).

I was stunned. These level 69 blue crafted boots were better for DPS than a Kara epic drop. I realize that Edgewalker Longboots are the true upgrade for my Fel Leather, but I thought for sure Rapscallion would be at least a small upgrade.

Yup. And Edgewalkers are the only upgrade other than the Tabi Boots until BT.

Poorly itemized piece of **** boots = fun?

Yeah I'm saving all the badges I can hoping to get the Tabi boots before 2.4, but I'm still 10 or so badges short of my Bloodlust Brooch. My Core of Ar'kelos has got to go, last green I'm sporting.

I guess I can just hope for Edgewalker to drop on a future Moroes kill, although I'll fell bad about taking them knowing I'll be getting Tabi boots within the next 4 weeks (assuming I do a full Kara clear every week, and 0 heroics; with heroics I'll get them even sooner).

The only good thing is the Rapscallion gave me some more stam for when I do the little PVP I do.

people overlook the fel-leather set, even though they really are some excellent items. gemed right you can get nearly 100hit from them and 200ap which is a real boost to anyone whos starting to raid.

don't feel bad about taking the edgewalker's if/when they drop. if you can buy a better pair with your BoJ just remember that anyone else who might want them can buy exactly the same pair.

Along these same lines, I received the Gloves off Attumen last night in Kara and am using them to replace my Fel Leather Gloves that have assault and 2 Glinting Noble Topazes. The Fel Leathers yield 25 hit, 28 crit rating, and 76 AP enchanted and socketted this way. Without any gloves on, I'm at 245 hit, 21.91% crit, and 1454 AP. How should I socket and enchant these gloves to get the most bang out of them, and will it be worth it to really try for the T4 gloves as well? The spreadsheet (in case you were wondering, I tried to do my homework) only shows a positive gain for Attumen gloves over Fel Leather when I enchant with SupAgi and socket 1 AP gem and 1 hit gem. My guild is gonna be on Kara and Gruul for a while if that makes any difference. Thanks guys!

For the gloves off Attumen, gem 8 hit/8 hit and enchant with Agi/AP.

Agi is preferred for raiding over AP because of how Agi scales with buffs as opposed to AP, but AP is a lot cheaper.

Really depends on your budget.

yep, you caught me... i didnt read every post

im just so used to readin the op, and the last guy to respond... cuz most of the threads i feel like bein helpful in can have 20 replies, with no one saying a good answer /teehee

although i gotta say

if you put on the fel leather, then compared to rap and only changed crit 0.01% when it has a 7 crit rating difference

sounds like someone is rockin a 12 agi enchant as well (too lazy to boot up armory)

and if you slapped those on the rap, it wouldnt be as bad.... still not a raid dps upgrade cuz of all the hit ud lose

but i remember using those for a while in raids just to level out my hp a bit... since i hate having to carry a lot of pieces in my bag for swap-sets

i just claimed those when i was doin kara cuz i like them better for pvp and pve, compared to edge that everyone else wanted and i didnt value for pvp

Yeah I do have 12 agi on the Fel Leather, didn't even think of that.

Any more boots I get will get enchanted with Cat's Swiftness though, cause we're starting SSC/TK and that means fights where it's necessary to leave/enter melee range a lot (hell even Gruul has that with target switches on HKM and ground slam on Gruul) so I figure Cat's Swiftness will help my DPS more than 12 agi will.

I'm just gonna stay with the Fel Leather for now. I get over 9k HP raid buffed for 25-mans and that should be enough until I can get Edgewalker's or Tabi Boots.

Because I'm a nublet - can someone explain how the scaling works? I just got the dexterous gloves off atummen last night, and am planning on using those over my s1 gladiator gloves, but just socketed some sh*tty orange (+3 hit +4 agi) and blue (+9 stam) that was in my bank. Already got the +15 agi.

**edit - using these for pve over s1

@TheNazghul:
If I were you I would still try to get a pair of T4 gloves. (As well as any other piece of T4, that you can get your hands on). The 2 piece set bonus of T4 is rather amazing and with more pieces in your possesion you gain more flexibility in choosing which equipment you use while still maintaining the set bonus.
