son of a... of course I sold my heavy clefthoof boots last night.
I'm slowly learning this lesson, too. I can think of a few instances of "damn I shouldn't have sold that" from vendoring pieces I'd thought I'd upgraded out of. Usually there's some reason or another I should have kept them, that comes up sooner or later, at least for special situations. It's usually because ANOTHER upgrade increased my stamina but sacrificed def rating so I wanted that other piece back. It's a situation unique to 70 where the stats are more complex and ya run across lots of sidegrades. I've also learned that gem slots are VERY valuable because you can customize pieces as necessary when you upgrade in other slots.
My recommendation: stash "old" items in the bank until you need the slots. That way if you think of a use for them you're good to go.

For tanking is there any reason to go for str & agi over armor & stam? I am not at the armor cap or anything like that but it seems like maybe more dps would give me more threat.
Do you have trouble holding aggro? The more common problem I have is, ya know, "dying." So until you are feeling indestructible but having trouble holding aggro, armor/stam/agi rock the house in my book anyway.
