I am very confused at the moment. I finally replaced my heavy clefthoof boots with the ones from heroic UB. Now I just need to get rid of the Vest. For tanking purposes what should I aim for? Also, what did YOU replace your heavy clefthoof vest with? I'm just curious..

Thanks in advance!

BoJ reward, Vestments of Hibernation

Also, Heavy Clefthoof Boots are better tanking boots than the Barkchip Boots from heroic UB. You're trading armor, stam, and def rating for Agi and Str.

son of a... of course I sold my heavy clefthoof boots last night.

For tanking is there any reason to go for str & agi over armor & stam? I am not at the armor cap or anything like that but it seems like maybe more dps would give me more threat.

I'm slowly learning this lesson, too. I can think of a few instances of "damn I shouldn't have sold that" from vendoring pieces I'd thought I'd upgraded out of. Usually there's some reason or another I should have kept them, that comes up sooner or later, at least for special situations. It's usually because ANOTHER upgrade increased my stamina but sacrificed def rating so I wanted that other piece back. It's a situation unique to 70 where the stats are more complex and ya run across lots of sidegrades. I've also learned that gem slots are VERY valuable because you can customize pieces as necessary when you upgrade in other slots.

My recommendation: stash "old" items in the bank until you need the slots. That way if you think of a use for them you're good to go.

Do you have trouble holding aggro? The more common problem I have is, ya know, "dying." So until you are feeling indestructible but having trouble holding aggro, armor/stam/agi rock the house in my book anyway.

Threat is rarely a problem for druid tanks. We already put out more than a similarly geared Prot Warrior. Focus on AR & Stam until you have over 20k health & about 30k AR, then you can start increasing your dodge through Agi. Keep working on the Armor though until you are up around 35k.

Thanks for correcting my flawed thinking. Now that I think about it as long as I'm in a competent group I don't have problems with threat. But every now and then I get a little worried when my health plummets after a couple lucky crits.

Looks like I'll have to go buy some new kicks.

Thanks for all the help

This can be done at the same time, if I'm not mistaken, since agi gives armor for bear too. Isn't it?

S3 BP is nice. Personally, I used Barkchip over my cleft hoof. In heroics, threat generation is important, since most of the time you wont be tanking one thing. So don't sweat it. I used barkchip until I replaced them with Badge tank boots.

I didn't replace my clefthoof vest until i got S3 chest either. It's just too hard to stay crit immune when you loose all that defence. I keep the clefthoof stuff around though. It's nice to enchant with some resistence if you need a resistence set for hydross or something

I use the Zierhut's Lost Treads, which drops from trash in Kara. Those replaced my Heavy Clefthoof boots, gemmed with 18 stam and 4 def rating, enchanted with 12 stam. Mine are enchanted with 12 stamina and are used for both tank and DPS sets.

Now to replace my Heavy Clefthoof chest, I may hold onto it until 2.4 comes out, of which I will consider replacing it with the T4 or with a badge gear, enchanted with the defense rating enchant coming in 2.4.

Thanks for all the advice! My plan is to start farming badges. It seems to be the best way to go for me. Now I just need to get back into a raiding guild.

Is it just me or do Druids have the least amount of options when it comes to gear selections? I could be imagining things but it can be difficult finding upgrades. If it wasn't for the Heavy Clefthoof set we would be SOL.

For tanking, there really aren't a lot of alternatives. There are really only a few leather pieces with part of their item budget spent on extra armor. But druid tanking gear is specific to druids, where Prot Warriors and Pallies can use some of the same pieces. For Cat DPS gear, we use most of the same armor that rogues do, although we don't need as much hit rating.

With the next patch :-

Embrace of Everlasting Prowess (Chest)
711 AR
40 Str
49 Agi
52 Sta
23 Int
1 Red Socket
20 Haste

=100 Badges

Worth waiting I think

All the new badge rewards are at here

THat haste rating on new badge gear is really not very smart. Haste is actually bad for tanking, since the faster you attack, the more chances are that you'll get parried. All those new tanking* pieces, seem more of a dps pieces.
