And honestly, people shouldnt have to tell you your spec isnt suited for raiding.
You should be thinking of that yourself.

Most important quote in the history of ever.
Its because i'm good.

Spec can be replaced by gear or skill too ;)

Too late. I've attacked every single mob outside of an instance, at least once. Several instance mobs have also been soloed.

And seriously, change your specc if you want to raid. If you'd been in my guild, I'd have demoted you to non-raider. If you are going to raid as a Hunter, you specc for raiding. And as it happens, the cookie cutter BM raidspecc is still the single best soloer in the game compared to any other class except possibly Warlocks.

Have you tried the spec? I have no clue. I'm not 70 yet and I don't know that I will ever do any of that kind of stuff.. If I wanted an extreme hardcore type of game play I wouldn't be taking a break from FFXI.

If you haven't done so already, you could try it and see. If you find that you are getting your *** handed to you left and right in solo than maybe it's not for you. You may find that, although you are getting your *** handed to you left in right solo, it's a big enough improvement for your raiding stuff for you to stick with it. But the best possible out come is that it's a nice boost to your raiding and you still do a very decent job solo.. Maybe not as good as you did but not to the point where you are getting your *** handed to you either.

Again, no clue, just trying to look at it as a third party.

You won't find that you are getting your *** handed to you with any solo content with this spec.

With this spec I can solo anything up to 2-man group quests, some 3-man group quests. To put it quite simply, anything you would need to solo or could solo with the spec he is using, is just as soloable with the cookie cutter spec.

True. All the talents he is holding onto aren't giving you any more soloability, really. They are just there to compensate for the people who can't really solo. Once you got a bit of skill, these talents will not make much difference.

On the contrary, the talents you gain will increase your dps, and thus decrease the amount of time you have to spend on each mob.

Just covering the bases here. They have a concern that a change to their spec could get killed more often. I am acknowledging that as a possibility but that they should still try it and if they find it really doesn't work for them, they can always change back. Sometimes it seems you guys forget that often when you change talents around you have to change your play style as well. I also agree that none of the suggested changes look like they would be a big change of play style which is very nice. Going from MM to BM (or vice versa) is a huge change in play style but this looks fairly insignificant.

I agree that there is a reason why these do become "cookie cutter" specs and I think we can agree that is because they do work. I don't know how popular it would be if it didn't.

I was almost all MM in my mid 30s (maybe I had hit 40.. seems a long time ago). I read how BM would be vastly superior to MM leveling up. I read that.. I comprehended what it said.. but simply reading it didn't make me feel that much more comfortable about trying BM. I told myself that I would try BM and if I didn't like it I would go back to MM and never think of BM again. I did switch to BM and am still BM now.

This reminds me of my friends mage. His spec is something he came up with on his own as he leveled, and it is literally 12/25/26. He has never respecced, but still refuses to pay the, what 1G? He also can't get into any raids and refuses to acknowledge that he could be able to survive probably just as easily if not more easily, and he'd do loads more damage.

Can I hijack my thread back. I love the advice and I listen to the wisdom of those who have been where I want to go.

Upgraded trinket Bladefist's Breadth and swapped the leg patch. So as it stands, lots more to do, I can hit 1400AP self buffed.

I started the quests for a ring and gloves. The gloves I wanted were on the same quest as the ring...ooops. So I will get the 2nd choice.

All in all thanks for all the help.
