I've been using Fletcher's Gloves as a BM Hunter since level 20 (now 43), but I've not been able to find anything to upgrade them -- the 14 ranged crit rating seems to be much better than pretty much anything I can get, certainly it seems better than any quest rewards I have gotten so far. Can anyone suggest an upgrade?
search for lvl 40-45 green ´of the monkey´ gear......
"...of the Monkey" or "...of the Falcon" if you can find it. "...of Agility" works too as that usually has twice the Agility but none of the other stat normally found on those items.
Stick with what you think works best, up until lvl 60 as long as your gear is not retarded (has strength), you're having fun and your groups aren't complaining armor is easy.
Obviously keep your Ranged Weapon as good as possible, and get the best melee weapon with the best stats, it's DPS means nothing. I like 2H because the best Hunter weapons end-game are all 2H and I really just like worrying about 1 weapon rather than 2, but thats just me.

2H has better stats then 2x 1H, even though 2x 1h might look cooler.

try Uldaman. It might take you a few runs, but the first boss, Ravelosh, drops blue gloves with a random enchant. When I was running through on my main hunter (working up gun skill), I saw him drop gloves of the monkey. Later, when I was getting a twink run through with my warlock, I saw him drop gloves of the Falcon. You have several chances of getting something good off of him. Of the monkey, of the Falcon, of Agility, of Power... Heck, even of the Wolf might be a decent upgrade. Spirit generally isn't great for a hunter, but Wolf still has Agility on it.
There are also a lot of other really good drops for hunters in Uldaman, and you're the perfect level to go through there.

The PvP mail level 40 gloves are the next upgrade to fletcher's gloves, although are basically the same. I used those all the way to OL, and know other hunters who have done the same.
Sure, it takes time, but you end up with an item that will last you until the expansion pack. I love PvP, so I went for it.

Gael, pick up some lvl 40 "ofthe monkey" gloves and the agi on them qill equate to 14 crit rating and give you RAP, givving you harder hits ;)
My NE hunter is now level 32 and I am using http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=4253;source=live with a 5 agility enchant on them. Both Fletcher Glove and Toughened Leather Gloves are crafted. I am no expert on stats and numbers but always thought the Toughened Gloves would be the better of the 2. This character I am just soloing through with as I don't always have fixed times to play and am just picking up gear as I go. I have a druid with LW and a mage with 225 enchanting so crafted gear isn't to much of a hassle. I am doing skinning and mining on this toon until I get to about 60, Druid is 48 so I will still be able to get my LW higher it is about 275 now.
If you guys think that the fletchers gloves are better then the toughened, don't be afraid to tell me so, I don't mind a little constructive criticism.
Edit: Tried to link Toughened Leather Gloves, didn't work, hope it works the second time.

Current gear is as shown on the Profile link for Daerae, but what I am getting at is that it would seem to require a huge amount of AGI to give the same ranged crit chance as the +14 from the current gloves. In other words, whatever I get for other slots, there doesn't seem to be anything for the glove slot that would be as good or better than what I have.
Or have I got it all wrong?
(I'm getting some Toughened Leather Gloves made up anyway, just need to go grab some spider silk -- got the other components lined up).

I think I may have got it wrong Gael, checked the FAQ and with my 6 agi + the 5 enchant I am getting 11 AP which is only about a 2.5 crit hit rating. Might craft myself some Fletchers gloves tomorrow night and see what changes I get.
Edit: Sorry I didn't read the post properly and looked at the wrong info, it's late here and I have had a busy day. so I know my AP with the gloves but am stumped with the Crit Hit. I'll still try the fletchers tomorrow and check the difference.

For Spiders Silk Gael, Duskwood is good and Stonetalon Mountains, I have about 10 in the bank they don't seem to sell well at the AH on Dath'Remar (oceanic realm)
Yes, Stonetalon is where I'm planning to go for silk, the area with Besleth seems pretty good.
However, about the whole ranged crit rating thing, it looks to me like I'll need 30 or more AGI to get the same crit rating as the Fletcher's gloves. Even accounting for the fact that AGI increases my attack rating, it doesn't look as if any of the gloves I can get hold of (at least excluding PVP rewards, which I am no good at and don't enjoy) can come anywhere near, when I'm fighting mobs no more than a couple of levels higher than me.
I can't be sure, however, because all the formulas listed seem only to talk about the effect at level 60/70 -- I guess I could experiment with various items see what the tooltips say.

Other than that, Razzeric's racing grips is what every 29 twink uses, with +8 stam and +9 agil. Only reason is they obtainable at 29, and are level 41 gloves(meaning BC enchants can be put on them) though, so take that info with a grain of salt.

The two crafted ones seem perfect -- now to start working on the materials/recipes. I don't think I can afford the BoE gloves though :)
