I might be flamed for making a thread that's already been addressed, but I've been pretty circumspect in my search around the forums and I haven't seen anything about races.

My question is: what racials are most important in PvP/PvE?

Any help would be appreciated.

From the sticky:

What's the best race?
Quote:

No race is the single best. They all have advantages. First, let it be said that STARTING STATS DO NOT MATTER. Don't pick a Night Elf over a Dwarf because of the difference in starting agility. A Night Elf with 650 agility would have around 643 as a Dwarf. Big deal.

As far as racial attributes go...
Night Elves can go unseen with Shadowmeld, which is useful to hide from an enemy.

Dwarves can cleanse poisons using Stone Form, and are slightly better at using guns.

Draenei have a Heal over time, and increase their party members chance to hit by 1%.

Tauren have extra HP, and can War Stomp to stun targets in close range to help them get back to range.

Orcs have pets that do increased damage, and a minor damage boost every few minutes.

Trolls have a bonus to using bows/thrown weapons, can give themselves a small haste effect every few minutes, and have increased damage against beasts.

Blood Elfs can drain mana from their opponent and then silence nearby opponents to return mana.

Myself, orc (stun resist) for PvP (even though I have a tauren b/c I like them). For PvE, I don't think it really matters, but I've found war stomp > wing clip to be a lifesaver at times.

Draenei racial HoT saved my hindquarters more times than I can count while leveling. I wish my +1% to hit affected me too. :(

Tauren for +5%hp and warstomp in PvP, Orc in PvE for Bloodlust and +5% petdmg.

+5%hp makes quite a difference at 70 (in pvp gear+spec something like 500 extra hp)
Warstomp is just another tool to escape warriors/rogues and/or interrupt spells.

Bloodlust and +5% petdamage are the best damage increasing racials, thus the best for PvE.

Dwarf stoneform is pretty good though... removing slowing poison is pretty nice

Don't underestimate the importance of starting the fight on your terms. I can't count how many times I've taken down prospective flagcappers that thought they were alone at the capzone. Send in my pet, and timing my Aimed Shot (which they will see coming, but way too late to do anything about it) so it hits just as my pet hits him. Follow up with my Multi and Arcane, and I will most likely have time to toss in a steady or two after that.

Even if he should survive, I can stay at range with an Intimidate/Conc combo, while finishing him off. Change position, and resume stealth defense.

I´m a Nelf, i´ve used it quite often... and i´d trade it in any time for the Orc racials, or the tauren racials...

In the other thread I mentioned I am rarely not targeted 2nd or first. The only ways I've been able to avoid being dead meat early on is Shadowmeld and Prowl. While the melee folks charge in, it gives me the time to zero in on their healer and if I'm in good position, ambush them. I'll send pet and when he hits, I do. I've dropped a healer really fast that way.

In PvP, shadowmeld works well for me. Can't knock it. I even use it PvE if I need to eat and rest. Eat > Shadowmeld. Works every time- no PAT's bug ya.
