prot warrior +arena=?Follow

almost 70 with my warrior, and know for sure im going prot for raiding, heroics, etc. arenas seem interesting to me but i cant see them fitting in so well. ive asked around a bit but not too much, and apprently prot warriors arent needed to much which i can understand. so my question is, 1)is it even worth it trying to join an arena team? 2)will a i even be effective in arenas, or just getting owned mostly? 3) wat team wood a prot warrior be best in, 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5, if any?

If you're serious about both PvE and PvP, get used to respeccing weekly. The best use I've found for a prot warrior so far was when 3 of us were doing a 5v5, one person on 3 characters at once, just to get points. Watching those 1300 teams freak out at the T5-tauren autowalking (not running, walking) at them freaked a couple teams out, and we actually managed to win a match when they decided to attack the warrior. It was rather entertaining, especially when a melee-heavy team tried to DPS him down at the end (~19k buffed health and 780block).

The problem with prot warriors is that they do pretty much no damage, so aren't a threat, so no one attacks them until the rest of your team is dead. On the other hand, every 5v5 needs an MS warrior (and I'm not exaggerating either, *needs* a MS war), and they're one of the best 2v2's as well (partnered with a resto druid).

not entirely true.

your autoattacks won't hurt as much, of course, and you don't have the MS debuff. but if you want to just do 10 games for the points, you don't have to respec... just stay in the 1400 bracket or w/e and thrash on some arena nubs. in BG's, prot spec matters even less, and when farming AV is even more beneficial than a dps spec for tanking drek.

it all depends on what you want to do. however, even as a prot warrior, you are still capable of enforcing a fairly long and annoying lockout period... 5 seconds from concussion blow, 3 seconds from intercept stun, 4 seconds from shield bash or pummel, 8 seconds from intimidating shout... then there's spell reflect...

Warriors generally don't spec prot for Arena. Low DPS means you're a non-threat, and there's very little you can do other than harass the healer.

I'd say, do your dailies, and respec weekly if you -really- want to do arenas.
