Tanking druid questionFollow

Sorry to ask such a noob question. But i was wondering if anyone had a spec for a straight up tanking druid.

I have been looking all over and it seems as if the druid is a very hard thing to spec right.

thanks in advance

That build picks up all the necessary talents while leaving 8 for you to choose between the optional talents.
Optional talents include:
Nature's Grasp (usually if you have 1 point left)
Brutal Impact (helps in solo and pvp a lot)
Savage Fury (great for cat form...i.e. solo or DPSing - even as off-tank you'll DPS some times)
Primal Tenacity (if you're feared or stunned your TPS is 0 and you lose dodge)
Natural Shapeshifter (makes power-shifting or form-dancing easier)
Intensity (helps rage out if you're starved at first, but with proper power-shifting at the start of a fight you shouldn't be rage-starved)

While it's not recommended, you could also pick up Improved Mark of the Wild for the extra power on the buff, but then if you're at a point where buffing the mark will help enough people you should have a resto/balance druid with it.
There's also Nature's Focus, which isn't recommended unless you plan on PvPing a lot.

This is what I use. It tanks great, DPSes great, solos great, and I do fairly well in world PvP. According to one response when I posted this build here, it has all the required talents and none of the no-nos.

Speaking of no-no's, do NOT get feral aggression, and I'd strongly reccomend skipping nurturing instinct (as you shouldn't be healing in str gear anyway, although in 2.4 it will get buffed). Most of the balance tree (except for 1 point for NG) is worthless to a feral druid as well.

Feral cookie-cutter spec is 0/46/11 +4, skipping Feral Aggression, Nurturing Instincts, and Primal Tenacity in the Feral Tree, and getting 5/5 Furor, 5/5 Naturalist, and Omen of Clarity in Restoration. The last 4 points usually go in (in no particular order) Nature's Grasp, Primal Tenacity, Intensity, or Natural Shapeshifter.

Nurturing Instincts may be worth picking up in 2.4 with the 10/20% buff to healing received in cat form, and the buff to +healing from Agi instead of Str (for solo/pvp).

I guess I have either not read enough or missed it somehow. I have always had feral aggression. When tanking multiple mobs, as I often do as a druid in 5 mans, it made sense to me that higher damage reduction would be useful. Do most tanking druids bypass this as well and I just haven't gotten on the bus yet?

The boost to Demo Roar is really small, and a Warrior with 3/5 or more in Imp Demo Shout will overwrite Demo Roar with 5/5 Feral Aggression. The bonus to FB is okay, but a Mangled Rip does more damage, and there aren't a lot of mobs past Kara that don't bleed (and even fewer in 2.4, when mechanical mobs and undead will bleed).

Uh...no. Most trash you don't want to rip on anyway, but (pre-2.4 anyway) I was only able to rip on maybe 2-3 bosses.

Notes on Feral Aggression: (Numbers from the Druidwiki!)

Demoralizing Roar
Untaleneted AP Reduction 240
Talented AP Reduction 336
Lasts 30 seconds

Feral Aggression is consider a fairly weak talent outside of raids. It can easily be replaced by a Warrior using Demo Shout or a Warlock using Curse of Weakness. As those together do NOT stack. For this reason only full on tanks might take it as the DPS/Tanking build can find more catly places for their points.

The main tank in my guild has it and swears by it.. I'm key'd and currently getting geared for kara. Once I start raiding they want me to drop Brutal Impact, Nature's Grasp and Savage Fury for it. Which..I'm not terribly keen on. >..<

Past Kara? Loot Reaver, A'lar (?), Hydross, Doomwalker, am I missing anyone?
