Does the healing effect from the 2 piece bonus cause any extra threat for the hunter's pet? I've come across a hunter with 2 pieces of Tier 5 who swears that he keeps growl off his pet, but the pet is usually near the top of the threat meters. What gives? The pet can't possibly generate THAT much threat- even WITH growl.

All i know is that its a godly bonus.
Even one possibly worth ditching pieces of T6 for to get 2/5 T5 and 4/8 T6 for the bonuses.

Healing causes threat equal to half the healing done, divided among all available mobs. So on a pull with 6 mobs, every 1 point of healing gives one-12th of a point of threat. My guess is that he uses KTM, since it doesn't separate out one mob from lots (and can't when they're named the same), and therefore with 6 mobs all named different things, it would appear as if every point of healing actually gives 3 threat, instead of one-twelfth of a point. (I believe that's how KTM works, at least).

Well, other members of the raid has seen it on omen, so it can't just be the hunter seeing it on KTM. The raid leader called him out on it because the pet was generating almost as much threat as the tank on Curator. The hunter has also "bragged" how his pet pulled aggro from the tank somewhere in SSC.

If it DOES generate more threat because of the healing... goddamn, I want it for solo'ing. I've been getting tired of pulling aggro by autoshotting.

no, Project means that that hunter has KTM, then KTM reports it as what it sees to everyone else.

and no one should still have ktm... its suck compared to Omen.

As far as I know, your 2 piece T5 bonus does NOT cause your pet agro.

I just tested this out, and it did not give my pet any agro according to Omen. In fact, the combat log says "Your Health Links heals <your pet> for X"

Honestly, as a raiding MM Hunter, all I see in this 2-piece bonus is "Increases agro by 15%"

For BM, I can see why you might like it though.

Why would you as hunter care about aggro?
After 2 Feign Deaths you are so far behind in threat that its nearly impossible to catch up.
(assuming you have decent tanks)
And healing your pet through AoE means not losing time/mana on mend/ress pet and not losing dps by losing your pet.

It's not about caring about personal threat. This guy's PET is the one causing the problem. The pet was 2nd on threat for a curator fight, and the guy CLAIMS that his pet has pulled aggro in SSC. The tank asked him about it, and all the guy could say is that his pet "is leet." Maybe he's just leaving growl turned on and lying.

Thank you for testing that, Zero.

then i blame it on a bug, and/or growl on...
but even growl on shouldnt let your pet get anywhere near even the top 10 threat in a 25 man raid.

(i think i´ve left growl on once in SSC, didnt even notice until after the raid and the pet never showed up on the threatmeter, wich shows the top 9 in threat + me)

Actually, this happened to me too, my pet was second on threat for the hydross fight, and even pulled aggro once and we wiped. Of course i had growl turned off, and i kept looking at my pet bar to make sure that it was off as i watched him climb on the threat meter. I think this has to be a bug or something. I was specced BM, for this particular raid (usually sv), and i asked the other BM hunter if he had this problem normally, and he said no. I ended up having to pull him out of the fight a couple times to drop his threat. The other bosses we did i had no problems. Oh, and i dont have the 2 set bonus on T5, so that has nothing to do with it.

I'm having similar problems with my pet, but don't have a single piece of T5. I've been noticing it especially in Kara and Gruuls, but it happened in SSC the other day too. My pet goes in, I start my normal shot rotation (BM 1:1) and end up second on threat so I FD, my PET gets aggro from the mob the main tank is on for enough time to go half health and then the tank gets it back. Growl is off, TBW is not on, I didn't use Intimidate, my pet wasn't even showing on the threat meter and he pulled aggro for like 3 seconds, everyone in the raid was like WTF? I ended up having to gimp my damage by waiting 3-4 seconds on almost every pull to keep him from getting us in trouble, but we managed.

I'm just wondering what the deal is because until the last patch came out I wasn't having this problem and it's been happening a lot more often lately and it's really starting to get to me. Someone in the raid even sent me a tell asking me to put in a manual command to make sure growl was turned off, something like /pet_command {growl (Rank 9) off}, but it didn't do anything, wasn't even the right kind of script as I kept getting the "type /help for a list of commands..." after I hit enter.

Any insight would be great.

As another data point I'll say that I've never seen this issue with either myself or any other Hunter. I've got zero T5, one T4 and keep passing on the shoulders (Curator and Prince hate me, and I hate them back) because the piece just isn't all that and I'd rather see someone else get it who is upgrading a blue. On Gruul I do need to FD fairly early in the fight, despite the Hunters present, typically 3-4, maintaining a MD rotation. This I always attributed to my popping RF and a trinket at the start of the fight. Even if the first 3 shots go to the off-tank's aggro (the tank is a Druid and the Warrior off-tank needs the aggro while a Druid tank never does), the remainder of the aggro accrues to me while both effects are still in place. So I FD to scrub all my aggro, hop up and keep firing. Tthe Pet never, ever gets aggro during this, and I never even have to worry about its aggro at all during the fight. Same for Kara, or SSC, or TK (beginning Bosses only for both of the latter raids) . No aggro for the Pet, ever.

While we are exposing bugs, i have a good one. This is the same night i was having problems with my pets aggro on Hydross. We were fighting Leo, and my pet got caught by the whirlwind, and shortly after died from the bleed effect. Now the Demon phase is coming, so i have to get my pet up in case i get an inner demon. So i start the revive pet, and to my surprise, im still firing away with my auto shot while rezzing him. I tested this at least four times, and everytime, i continued to fire while reviving my pet. Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm wearing 2/5 T5 items and I don't have a problem with pet aggro (though I am SV specced and I really would wonder if I ever had problems with pet aggro at all).
Never even seen my pet on the threat list, but that can be expected since even most healers will out-aggro my pet.

In solo-pve my scorpid pet has a good amount of threat when I was MM specced. Against those elite-trees in Skettis it has ~500 threat per second which is enough to not get aggro again after a feign death.
When I fight those with my ravager as a SV specced hunter my pet does more like 350-400 threat per second which leaves me with kiting the mob for at least 40% of the time.
All in all the 2piece bonus rocks; I think I'll still use it on some fight even when I get my hands on some T6 pieces (they are still way to expensive for my meager dkp).

If the Pet is named exactly as the player this will happen..

If a pet is named after a player a lot more things will happen (like being banned when doing this in arena).
And of course, naming a pet after yourself is a bit wierd isn't it?

But how many times have you actually seen that? The closest I've EVER seen to that is a hunter named Windserpent with a WS pet with a player-like name. It can really throw people off in PvP >.<

Hunter name: Dunter (didnt even realize it was spelled so similarly to the class title till after a few months of playing)
Pet name: Duntard :D running joke in the guild.

Thankfully i dont bring my pig into the arena with me, since i would hate to level him to 70 again.
