Just curious if you guys like spirt gear? I was looking at my stats and was shocked to find, at lvl 70, my spirit is +6 (along with my str & agi). Ive been focusing on +hit, dmg, crit, int, & sta I failed to notice my lack of sp. Now I know it increases health/mana regen, but with pots, gems, & evo, Ive never really missed it at all. Just curious if anybody has the same problem?

Yeah, spirit aint to great because it only kicks in when you aren't casting.

Only way spirit is any good is if you're 18 points into Arcane with the proper talents.

So don't even worry about it.

Consider spirit .11dmg (with IDS and Kings). Basically, wasted itemization points from the time when Evocate ran off spirit -_-

Spirit will mean more to us now that in 2.4, mana regen per spirit is increased per point of intellect, but I have a feeling that it won't be significant enough for mages to think about their spirit that much.

Mage spells are relatively cheap and mana bars relatively large.

The real problem with spirit is that if you're chaincasting, you get no benefit unless you have points in Arcane Meditation or have Mage Armor up. I like it for leveling pre-Molten Armor levels for its use with mage armor, and it will certainly help the efficiency of arcane builds, but it's really otherwise kinda crappy.

arcane meditation stacks with mage armor obviously, but since there's so much mage gear with spirit "wasted" on it, i decided to see just it felt like to have 5sr regen like my druid.

it's pretty easy to get a 125m/5 while casting with just regular 5man gear for a druid. to my shock and horror, i found out that with arcane meditation and mage armor up, i could get my mage's 5sr regen up to 114m/5 with just the same quality regular 5man drops. i was of course lasting much much longer in the tedious fights, but my damage sucked. not outrageously, but it did suck pretty bad compared to the serious mage gear. i used mana gem much much less, but still needed an evocate.

since mana gem is there to be used, and going for spirit eats so much of your damage, i really see no reason to sacrifice so much just to regen a little mana while casting. maybe it'll be a different picture after 2.4, but i'd take some convincing.

The good thing, though, is that almost all caster gear has +SPI anyway, so in the end, once 2.4 is released, we're all going to get increased mana regen (+SPI = health and mana regen, +INT (our own INT and our gear INT) = mana regen), even if it turns out to be a small amount. Edit: And we don't have to do anything.

Yay for mages. ^_^
