Holy Priest soloing ShadowmoonFollow

#1 Feb 22 2008 at 2:06 PM Rating: Decent
If I am able to reach level 70 while having Shadowmoon Valley and Netherstorm quests untouched then I am going to respec to Holy and begin running instances and raiding while also soloing the quests in Shadowmoon & Netherstorm.
My question is: will it be terribly difficult to solo these quests as a Holy Priest or should I wait untill I complete them all before I give up my Shadow build.
Completing these quests as a Level 70 will go a long way to getting the gold I need for my fast flying mount but I also would like to start running instances/raiding as a Holy Priest to get my gear upgrades.

Thanks for your help.....

Go holy when you feel like it.

I was holy from 1 to 70 and I survived. Can you kill things a little quicker as shadow? Yes. Would it stop me from specking holy if I wanted? No.

Thanks for your help...

I'll second this.

I respec'd from Shadow to Holy at 44, because my priest is pretty much a dungeon rat and I'm needed for healing FAR more than for DPS. I expected it to be really painful to solo/quest after the respec to holy. While it was a little easier as a shadow priest, it really wasn't a big deal at all.

My only advice to you would be to make sure you keep spirit tap if you plan on soloing.

you can solo every quest there, with the exception of group quest :P But for those you usually need 5 ppl anyway. Now my smite build is pretty efficient. If i had spirit tap, that would be a lot of endless killing.

While you can solo them, a lot of quests in SMV are painful for a holy priest and are better done with a partner. As a holy priest you don't handle adds well because once there are three or more your shield drops before you can recast it and you get constant push back delaying your smites. If you do solo you need to take your time and pay extra attention to avoid or kill the patrols and keep the fights down to one on one. Many of the quests force you to fight two mobs at once.

Just ask in zone chat, a lot of people would love to have a holy priest help them on those quests. If nobody answers go ahead and solo but don't be afraid to run when the odds aren't in your favor. With shield and fear and instant cast spells like renew and ProM priest run away very well.

As a Holy Priest who solo'd most of the quests in SMV and Netherstorm, it's very possible. It takes a little more care (as has been mentioned), but very doable.

Just remember - Psychic Scream is not necessarily your best friend (situationally useful), but the fear will usually cause more trouble than it helps.

PoM, Shadowfiend, and PW:S are your friends. Oh, and your own two legs running in the opposite direction. Smiley: grin When it doubt, run away.

Oh, and make sure you introduce yourself to the spirit healers. You'll be seeing a lot of them, so might as well get on a first name basis. :D

When it comes to completing quests efficiently, Holy or Shadow in SMV and Netherstorm doesn't matter a quarter as much as having a flying mount does. Quests that would take half an hour with a regular mount--stuff on the stairs in SMV for example--take five minutes if you can fly to your target and skip all the trash.
