Help with Warrior spec at 63Follow

Hello Everyone!

I am currently a 63 warrior with an arms/ (little bit of Fury) spec. I recently got a mace that rocks and I am about to respec from poleaxe to mace specialization.

I wanted some advice on my current build before I do the respec. I personally have not found slam useful or worthwhile and I have actually had people mock me when I have had that in my build in the past. I was booted from a party once because I had a build with slam in it. So obviously not everyone agrees with RPzip's opinion on slam.

Here is what I am looking for. I love love love to PVP with my 2H DPS Warrior and I want to continue to be useful in PVP, however, in getting closer to 70 I have found that I am asked to tank more often in instances. I do pretty good as long as the party lets me keep aggro, but I still find it difficult to hold rage with a 2H DPS build.

I have decided that I am going to stay 2H DPS for the meanwhile, at least until 70 because I dont want to sacrifice my fun in PVP for an occassional instance run.

How does my current build look and what should I improve on. I have heard a lot about Flurry and I am wondering if I should spec deeper into the fury tree to get flurry. I am concerned about losing my Imp MS though. I really like MS. During an Underbog run last night there was myself, a 67 DPS Fury Warrior, a 64 prot warrior, a 64 shammy, and a 63 SP. I was second on the damage charts right behind the SP (only by 1%). I out DPSed the 67 Fury Warrior so I am beginning to think a deeper arms spec is more worthwhile rather than taking something like a 33/28/0 build.

Here is my armory link http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Trollbane&n=ZumaZUMA Build[/link]

Thanks for the help!

I am also concerned about my armor level. Right now its at about 5300 or so. I am not prot so I cant expect big numbers like in the 8k range but is 5300 too poor for my level. I have all Outlands gear from running BF and Coilfang instances. Last nights Underbog run netted me some pretty sweet gear.

Coilfang was so much fun. I am about to run slave pens now so here is hoping a helm drops because thats really only area I need to improve in I think.

Advice on gear is always welcome.

Cheers!

Careful with that! You might just find an even cooler [insert non-mace 2h weapon here] in a matter of days. In addition to having extensive use in PvE (opposite to mace spec), the Poleaxe spec applies to two different sorts of 2h weapons. That is the main reason to why it should be preferred while leveling.

First off: Slam is awesome. Anyone who tells you differently has either never played a warrior, or never been very successful at playing a warrior. If you've had Imp. Slam I suggest you spec it again and devote your life to perfecting your Slam rotation.

Second: You've specced Endless Rage. If you do that again I'll strongly suggest you follow through with your avatar. Not to mention Imp. HS (but sure, you don't use Slam anymore) and Imp. Rend (!!!).

Arms/Fury build. Try this out if you like the arms tree. Just walk it up the fury tree and get Imp. Slam, SS, Weapon Mastery and 1/5 in Flurry (optionally 1/3 in TM).

Fury/Arms build (2h). This will pretty much max out your personal DPS to an extent Arms will not be able to compare with, if you play it right. Walk up the Arms tree and pick 2h spec over Impale. Your crit won't be high enough while you're leveling to justify Impale (if you want 14642 pages of math on why, I'll give you just that. If not, just trust me ;) ).

After that you should respec to what we tell you to after you've told us what you want to do after you ding 70 (yeah, I won't trust you with your own builds anytime soon).

Alright, I've already liked you builds, and if you like PvP the Arms one is by far the best. What you only really need for instances, though, is DPS who know how to play and Imp. TC. Deflection is nice while tanking for obvious reasons, but that's pretty much nice in any case, unless you're rage starved while solo:ing...

If you want more info on tanking or talents making certain things easier for you, just ask.

To be honest, your build is terrible. But your DPS in that run shows either potential in you, or incompetence in your party members. I'm leaning towards the first.

Talents to avoid: Imp. Rend, Imp. HS (for 2h builds), Imp. MS (it's too little increase for too many points spent, not to mention it's either this or 5/5 in Flurry at level 70) and Endless Rage.
That covers the Arms tree.
Fury: Max Unbridled Wrath (for 2h builds, you only ever need 1 or 2 points in UW for 100% chance of rage-gain, since it's PPM based), Blood Craze and DW spec (for 2h builds, duh).

If you disagree or have questions on anything here, just post up and I'll make you agree/answer.

Best of luck!

Don't be. If you've got all plate items, preferably outlands plate (for tanking, solo play you could swap in mail or leather if the stats are alot better), and an outlands shield you've got nothing to worry about.

Well I really appreciated your advice on everything. I agree 100% with most of it. I am still skeptical of slam and I am not really sure how a rotation would go so I dont think I would be as good with it as I would be without it unless I get learned quick.

I went with Your Arms/Fury hybrid with a few discrepancies just because I had already started when you replied. I went with IMP HS (I know it sucks) instead of Blood Frenzy and I went 34/20/0 instead of 35/19/0.

I want to stick with the arms tree I think for now just because I mostly PVP and group quest.

I will tweak it a bit more the next time I respec, which will be at 69 when I get Crystalforged War Axe. I will have a chance to really see Flurry at work because thats what I am really interested in trying out. Oh and I went with Piercing Howl on the Fury Tree. I will change that at 69 when I spec for Poleaxes again. I haven't really found it useful until as of late while playing EoTS. It saved my butt quite a few times while running the flag.

To explain a rotation to you, or even better; a Slam rotation:

Say you've got a 3.5 speed weapon. Say you use Slam directly after each white swing (use a swing timer addon for easier slamming). That will give you an extra hit, slightly harder than your average white, but will also delay your next hit by 0.5 sec (since your swing timer is reset when you've finished casting Slam). So, instead of getting one swing in 3.5 sec, you're getting 2 swings in 4 sec.

I'll dig up an old post for you, made by my brother, where he explains the advantages with Slam vs. MS and WW. This is at low level, and with a very very slow weapon.

Xordon explains Slam vs. MS + WW

If the math tires you I'll sum it up:

+ Slam does more damage than MS + WW.
+ Slam is alot more rage efficient than MS + WW.

- Slam is alot harder to master than MS + WW.

I'm a senior warrior. RPZip is too, and trust me; he's never wrong. I've been on these forums since he had... what, like 1k posts or something. Even though it doesn't show on my post count, I've been here longer than most people, and I've learned alot too (especially from RP). Trust me, you don't wanna see my earliest posts here... but I've come a long way since then, and mark my words when I say 'What I don't know about warriors is either not worth knowing, or very much so.'

Slam is awesome, but it's still up to you if you want to use it. I just hope you won't become one of those warriors you've met who diss people who've come much further than they ever will, and kick people out of groups before they've even had a chance to prove their worth.

Edit: Link.

I do have a swing timer and I have found that it has made me a better warrior through and through. I'll give slam a try in some questing and see hoe I do.

Ive been around here for quite some time and I know RPZip is Pro.

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it.

Ill probably come back when I turn 70 for prot build advice. I will never kick people out of groups unless they cause me to die 2 or more times. I watch hunters like a hawk and have come to really appreciate mages and rogues for unbeatable CC.

Meatshield FTW!

Stop being prejudice about hunters, we're not all bad :P And for the record: My CC > any rogue CC.

For prot build look to the FAQ. Otherwise have a nice time mate, see you around!
