Another Gear QuestionFollow

Hi guys and gals,

I am a feral spec druid and my main role is tanking. I have fairly good gear and have collected most badge rewards except for the belt and chest.

I have searched armoury and various threads regarding upgrades especially for Heavy Clefthoof Chest and am not sure which chest to look for besides the T4 piece from Mag as our Guild is currently in SSC and TK. Kara and Gruul's are both on farm and we are progressing through ZA. It looks like its either going to be a while before we do Mag or may even bypass him as quite a few guildies already have their T4 chests from running Mag with their previous guild.

I have the chest drop from Nightbane as a part of my DPS set and have all the mats for the Shadowprowler's chest obtainable through Violet Eye rep.

In your opinions, what would you select as your chest upgrade other than the T4 piece?

S3 chest is excellent for tanking. It's not that difficult to find a team and do 10 games a week for a guaranteed awesome tanking chest. Even if you get upgrade to it later on, you can always regem it for pure dps, which makes it one of the best dps chests for dps, not too mention its usefulness for pvp.

Vestments of Hibernation is also good for tanking and DPS w/ +6 Stats, if you don't mind losing some Stam. It's not quite as good as the S3 chest or T4, but it's a lot easier to get (if you're like me and don't enjoy PvP and your guild won't go after Mag).

That's me, too. Don't like PvP, unfortunately, and don't expect to get into 25-man content.

I met an uberdrood last night who's MT'd Kara, Gruul, and SSC, and he used Vestments of Hibernation for tanking and DPS. (although he said he had his eye on some upgrade for DPS.) We talked about that and Slikk's cloak, and it got me wondering. I'm barely into heroics and don't have squat for BoJ's yet, but what should I tell Santa Claws I want? Are there no-brainer Badge purchases that I should put at the top of my list? Comparing Vestments of Hibernation to my Heavy Clefty Vest and Slikk's Cloak to the Thoriumweave Cloak I'm gonna get, it seems hard to identify the best "bang for your buck" in terms of how much of an upgrade the different badge-bought options represent.

Any recommendations or rules of thumb?

I use the scores given on Emmerald's lists and divide how many tankpts upgrade it is by the number of badges it costs to see which is the best investment to aim for first.

Be aware though that there are a heap of new BT level badge rewards coming out in the next patch. I would probably save up the badges and spend them on those items. Here is a link to all the new badge items - some of them are amazing!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the good feedback. I appreciate the input and insight. Will probably aim for the Vestments then as it seems to be a clear cut winner.

/wave to Thaytakeye. Same server - spoke to you the other day and took the advice. Thanks!

Vestments have the added advantage of being both a DPS and a tanking upgrade, where the cloak is only for tanking, and doesn't help you generate extra threat. That being said, depending how fast you can rake in badges, you may want to watch for any signs for 2.4 to go live; there are some ilevel 140+ BoJ items (that's BT/Hyjal level gear).
