After the quite extensive process of gathering a whopping 9 shields for this, I finally managed to solo kill High Priestess Arlokk in ZG!

The last 7%:

The damage meter!

I forgot to take a shot of the loot, so get over it. :P I did go through basically all my shields. My 7 Petrified Lichens were completely destroyed, my Nightbane shield was destroyed as well, and my last ditch please-die-soon healing shield (which can be seen swapping in during the video) ended at 33/100 durability. That's pretty much as close as you can get. The fight took about 45 minutes.

P.S. yes I know there's an accomplishments thread but damnit, I just solo'd a raid boss, this warrants its own thread!

Very very VERY cool, Ialaman!

Hands down, this indeed warrants its own thread.... or as Poldaran so nicely put it: HOLY CRAP!

Congratulations!

But to tell the truth, my guilds Warriors have been farming him for money for well over 3 months now I think, and I soloe'd him about 2 months back the first time.

But congratulations anyway, its quite a feat still! ^_^

EDIT: And damn that Protection Warrior DPS, they can go through the boss with 2 shields, other of the Warriors just did it the other day with 2, both ending in 1/100 durability. Smiley: laugh

I usually have to use 6~ :(

Oh and if you're curious, the vent conversation in the background is my guild wiping on Shade of Akama. I left it in there to shame them for sucking so bad. (and for not inviting me)

youve inspired me to want to try it... looking at your armory your stats aren't too different from mine. I just have to get a ton of shields now.

Go for it, it's pretty fun. Not sure how often I want to repeat it (45 minutes of consecrate/HS and Seal of Wisdom gets boring pretty quick. :)

Getting to the fight should be pretty easy. Just zone in, hug the left and go across the river. Once across the river, hug the right and watch where the snakes are. They have this small roaming area that can sometimes aggro you if they're too far, but stay on the cliff side and you can run by them without aggro. Hug the cliff until you get to the bridge, and follow the path into the pyramid. You will likely have to fight the group of 4 at the top of the inside stairs, I'm not sure if an invis potion works or not because I didn't try.

Once they're dead, go about halfway down the stairs, and then hop off to the left. You should be free and clear to go in to the boss.

It's much easier than trying to get to Garr in MC, which I tried after this. Garr involves much swimming in lava, fighting a lava surger, and using two invis potions (and twiddling your thumbs for 10 minutes during the cooldown between them, ARGH!) and likely a very harsh learning experience. The two things I learned were "Oh hey, Core Hounds can see through an invis potion!" and "Oh look, this was a bad place for my invis potion to wear off... AoE tanking the Firelord and his bajillion spawns just isn't going to work"

I think I have the path figured out, but to be honest, since most reports say the fight will take between 2 and 3 hours, I think I'm going to wait until Sunday before I give it a serious shot. Who knows, I may even have something worth putting in the weekend goals/summary thread. ;)

Like Jack, I think I want to try this now :D Gotta go get my shields and attempt to figure out that path you mentioned (I never ran all of ZG, so no idea what you were talking about, lol). I love stuff like this, the "Broken Paly Thing" (BPT) in action as a guildmate of mine calls it. Like rounding up every trash mob in Black Morass and AOEing them all down: only taken up a notch, or 2, or 5!

If anyone could, would you put in here some other ridiculous things Paladins have soloed? Would be fun to get a list going for all us "BPT Nerds" to try and do, lol

Well in terms of raid bosses, the only other one I know of is Garr. I'm kickin tires on trying Kurinnaxx in AQ20 but it seems to be pretty well agreed that the trash is going to be a big hinderence. (plus, his enrage for the last 30%)

As far as non-raid stuff goes, the sky's the limit. (or at least, your shield durability and availability of meleeing mobs) I've done the Black Morass trash one-pull before, as well as dragging the demon hunter supplicants all the way around their own terrace, down and across the aldor/scryer battleguards and up into the orc area (and picking up 2 big bad elites in the process). I pulled an entire ring in BRD at once. It's all just a matter of finding mobs that only melee, being able to completely block an attack, and having over 100% miss/dodge/parry/block.

Just make sure there's no healing totems. (this is why you canot AoE-pull in ZF)
