Priest right for me?Follow

#1 Feb 20 2008 at 6:32 PM Rating: Decent
Hey everybody...I'm going to be getting back in the WoW groove again after about a 4 month hiatus. The friends that I play with switched servers and made new characters. One is a lock who plans on going affliction at 70 and the other is an arms warrior but I'm not sure what he's doing at 70. My question to you guys is would a priest go well with that group for pvp/arena? If not, what would? My main (not going to be my main anymore) was a fire mage so I've got a lot of experience with ranged classes. Also, should I expect slower leveling with a priest or am I just ignorant. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. :)

As a healer, you are going to be targeted first in Arena. You also are wearing cloth. I would consider a druid, which can heal, but also change form for more survivability.

If you go shadow for leveling, you will do ok. Killing mobs as holy is slower (that's what I did).

In the end, we can't tell you what to play. All classes have their benefits. Only you can decide what you like best.

If you want a healer, I'd go with either priest or druid. I like leveling casters better, so I'd stick with priest (leveling as doomkin is painful until mid-40's, and your other option is not a caster). Both are extremely powerful, with druids doing better in 2v2 and priests better in 5v5, but both still being very competitive.

You will do ok if you level as a group. Solo, priest might be the slowest class. Good news, you can always get a group.

As a 50 Priest who has done a ton of soloing, I can tell you that the last post is extremely bogus. Specced Shadow, you heal while you are doing damage as well as gaining mana back at the same time. I can take mobs up to 3 to 4 levels above me generally,as long as thier not elites. As I levelled up I used a mixture of holy and shadow spells to get the job done but after 40 it's been VE,SW:P,MB,MF,MB Dead. Generally it's dead even before the DoT is even finished. All I can say is that this class is the BEST. You can take the healer role or assume shadowform and kick serious ***! The most Versatile class around, the Priest can blast AND provide benificial effects to the party memebers, can play both roles well and, and thanks to PS if you get in too much trouble and have to run, PS and Fade and live to fight again. If you plan to group a lot, go doly disc, but if you want to be self sufficient and level fast go Shadow. my 2 cents from one who has played a priest a LOT.

I went undead shadow and its really great. shadow is more for DPS while holy is well obviousely healing so if you dont plan on getting ambushed EVER (and that happens a lot) u would want to go holy. Shadow worked out for me but its all your choice
