I'll channel Theo for a moment here, because I'm fairly sure that I already know what his response will be.

No.

Mut is the only viable dagger spec, and it's dead now, nub.

Viable, yes. The most efficient PvP spec, no.

You could probably kill plenty of idiots/whimps/newbs/5-year old children with it though.

Such a shame because it's so much fun.

I've checked out top Rogues. Ming runs w/ ShS Dagger, but Ming isn't on the top 100 Rogues worldwide. They are all either ShS Sword/Mace or Combat Sword/Mace.

It's a shame Blizzard killed Dagger PvP. I'm having so much fun at 68 ... Singling out players and assassinating them!

Ming might also just be ******* around. He's spent thousand of golds in respec since the harp nerf.

Ming may be doing it to troll people (get them to diss the spec/him). He does it all the time with huge success, despite how obvious it is. Reading WoM seems to temporarily disable trolldar or something.

ShS Daggers works great for lvl 58-59 bgs or for lvl 60 av. Something like this is want you want to be aiming for at 58. Biggest options are being able to drop a point from Camo & then put the last three into Cheat Death.

You want to take Camo over MoD in ShS dagger builds because being able to one-shot low health players then re-stealth again is vital to your survivability in places like AV. Whilst the full 5/5 aren't needed you need at least 4/5 to be able to re-stealth as soon as combat is dropped from your initial hit. Also, if you are going to be Shadowstepping Into your target, MoD is unnecessary since you will be 25yrs away when you decide to Shs anyway, but the movement speed from Camo will allow you to adjust for enemies who are moving about.

Dirty deeds is great since it will almost guarantee a kill on below ~35% health target with ambush. I used it pre-TBC and found myself able to kill pretty much any target. Premed>Shs>garrote>Backstab(crit)>Rupture will pretty much destroy any opponent at full health.

Keep in mind that people now have easy access to outland gear so you may stumble across the odd warrior or lvl 60 twink/alt (since they are almost synonymous nowadays in the upper brackets because 70s have so much gold from outlands) that has a higher HP pool. Especially now that Highwarlord / Grandmarshall lvl 60 Epic gear is purchasable through honor.

Whilst the build has a fair bit of maneuverability since Shs is now out-of-combat too, there is still the problem of terrible combo point generation that backstab based builds are plagued by. The Shs change somewhat combats this since you no longer need to throw a kidneyshot in to get off your backstab.

Warriors are particularly vulnerable to this spec at 58-60 lvls since you can Garotte>Rupture them, cripple kite them out until you can either re-stealth or you can ShS again, then ShS>Backstab them whilst they are still trying to get you in intercept range.

This is also one of those limited situations when Remorseless Attacks becomes an option. If you plan on picking people off with one/two shots you can start jumping about the battlefield Ambushing people like a maniac.

I leveled as shadowstep dagger, and did some Arena and even raids with him for a little bit.

I bought 'The Night Blade', well before the nerf for it, back when because of the broken proc, it was a better dagger then even Vasjh's. This played a big part in how much success I got as a SHS rogue, both in pvp and pve - my 'gear' level was simply way over the average. When people at level 70 had 8-9k hp, instead of 10-11k and Resilience was still rare, a shadowstep ambush with The Night Blade was insanely powerful.

However, as people started doing karazhan, and we started facing T4 people in the Arena and resilience became more common, the spec started to show how terrible it was... not to mention sword rogue with blue weapon were giving me a run for my money.

When the dagger got nerfed, I got myself a Riftmaker and the S1 dagger and went Mutilate for the rest of S1.

Despite several buff to the sub tree, I don't really see Shadowstep Dagger being anymore viable now, then it was before.

I would have phrased it a little differently, but yeah.

(More like, "ROFL, NO. JUST NO. GO MUT YOU SCRUB.")

Anyone can get full Vengeful.

Ming is a moron who has delusions as to how much skill he really has.

Ming also thinks duels are the best indicator of a player's or class' skill.
