Mutilate Gets BuffedFollow

#1 Feb 19 2008 at 10:37 PM Rating: Good
Now +15% increased crit chance off Imp. Backstab talent.

When asked if this would make Mutilate viable, Professor Wütde of Fyuk University said "lol no".

Although it gives it a fair amount of weight for using Mutilate to grind with seeing as it is a free +15% crit chance.

In other news, this seemed like a nice indirect buff to erm... fleet footed?

Although "Alterac Valley- There is now a Join as Party option." says to me that horde will start winning them on Blackout (EU)... leaving alliance to enjoy the fact they can't win at any of the battlegrounds. Just as well, I was thinking of re-rolling.

Bet it gets nerfed before PTR goes live.

No reason to nerf it; 15% crit isn't gonna do much but make mut more viable in PvE.

It'll buff mutilate in PvP too, by a large amount.

It might not be enough to usurp ShS as the most FOTM spec, but still. It's a pretty big buff.

Since you have to take away 3 talent points elsewhere to get this new talent, I don't think its a huge buff.

It would get interesting if it would increase mutilate crit chance by 10/20/30%, just like backstab.

No, Mut will still be a FOTM spec, but it won't be as good as ShS.

Why?

Because it has little to no mobility compared to ShS.

OH WHAT'S THAT? A MUT BUFF ? Thank Buddhist for that little leak.

A mut/sub pvp build would probably look like this now?

<3 imp. EA...

someone on the O-boards said that in order to REALLY make this work they would have to combine the poison talents into one.

WOOT! As a devoted Muti-Rogue I will take what I can get. =)

Hows This look as a raiding build? Basically taking the 3 points I currently have in Imp Eviscerate out and putting them into Imp BS since eviscerate is a weak finisher in group anyway. Even for solo grinding I have found myself using Envenom more and more.

At least imp sprint will always remove entangling roots.

We're getting pointless and unneeded buff again, but at least we're avoiding the nerf bat that Blizzard seem to be swinging widely while wearing a blindfold (That allows them to peek out just enough so they avoid hitting warriors, heh).

So just lay low and hope they don't figure they need to take Cold Blood off Prep and put Ghostly Strike on it instead...

maybe the nerf bat is mitigated by armor....

Nerfbat swings at you,
You dodge Nerfbat,
Nerfbat's Overpower crits you with 300 resilience.

i got a rogue friend who will be excited to see this. he mut'ed his way to his s3 daggers and then took a break to get shoulders on his priest, so maybe this will get him excited about the rogue again.

Yeah, and Mutilate is actually somewhat used in Arena... not as much as ShS, but it does get some usage. Obviously, this will greatly help the mutilate rogues out there and may get some to try it.

I'm half tempted to grab some daggers and give it a shot, but that's just my boredom with shadowstep talking - Mut will still lack mobility and be crippled by positional requirement... more crits won't change that.

I also heard that Blizz were making more mobs in SSC and TK non immune to poisons, but can't remember seeing any patch notes for this.

I am really happy with the buff. I used to enjoy Mutilate, but had to respec to Combat for SSC.

With this buff and if the poison change occurs SSC and Mutilate here I come!

Yeah I read something to the effect that mechanical and elemental mobs will not have inherent immunity to poisons.

Will seem kind of odd being able to poison Hydross or Void Reaver though...

or something like it for arena

poison heavy muti becomes a twin melee dps+healer 3v3 or warr/rogue/x/x/x 5v5 comps friend

especially if the 5v5 is heavy dps and the rogue isnt first target, or even close to it

Thank you, Theo!
I tried ShS. I liked the big openers in BGs. The biggest I've ever gotten was like a 3200 on a Mage. But I changed because I would get my butt kicked if I pulled more then 1 or 2 at a time in Outland.
