I'm willing to bet quite a bit that the lot of you are pretty sick of these posts, so I'll make this one quick. :D

Do you guys think I'm ready to start hitting Heroics? And if not, what do you guys think the main thing I should be working on?

Cheers!

unbuffed health has to be up at least close to 12k unbuffed. dodge+parry also has to at least be around 30%. your armor rating is good. re-gem for 12 stam across the board while staying at 490 def or higher. enchant chest with 150 health, and shield with 18 stam. that would give you another 1170 health at the expense of some TPS and a small bit of avoidance, but remember that your #1 concern is survival, and #2 is TPS. some of your gear pieces could stand upgrades, and they would most likely have more avoidance on them as well. you can also enchant your cloak with +12 dodge.

You should be fine to go in, assuming you have a group that knows what they're doing. With proper CC, a decent healer, and you doing your job properly you should be alright for the easier heroics. Froman gave good stats, but benchmark stats are just that, only a benchmark. It's not an exact science. For example, when I started playing again recently, I had a lot of old friends who wanted me to run with them again. As a result, I was pulled into heroics a lot sooner than you ordinarily would be. I was tanking H Mech, H Sethekk, and H SP them with little over 10k HP unbuffed. I made it, but it took careful CC, a competant healer, as well as my knowing how to play my class pretty damn well. I specced into imp. revenge for a short time so that I could have to stun to reduce damage on me, I would use abilities like concussion blow and disarm religiously. I had to go out of my way to think through pulls creatively in terms of how to tank them again.

It was definitely fun. I've been tanking long enough that while I wouldn't say it gets boring, sometimes it begins to feel routine. I'm good at what I do, people I run with know I'm good at what I do, and by this point in time I don't even think about a lot of it. I just do it, and it happens like it should. Not only is this no fun, but it also makes for a crappy tank. If everything is always routine, you lose your edge, and you forget HOW to do what you need to be able to do, when the **** hits the fan. It breathed a lot of fresh air into tanking for me, honestly. Go for it. The worst you're going to discover is that you can't tank them right now after all, and you have to pay a repair bill. It's not the end of the world. If you plan on having any sort of progression, you'd better get used to paying repairs anyways.

I'm used to pugging my heroics, so that's why I'm rather adamant about adhering to the benchmark. As fletus said, you may very well be able to start tanking some of the easier heroics, but it may take a skilled healer with close to 1700 healing bonus to keep you up in harder hitting situations (tempest forge destroyers in Hmech, bog giants in UB) and a minimum of two, preferably three cc, to keep too many mobs from beating on you for an extensive period of time. The nice thing about your armor rating is that it gives you maybe 10 more seconds of effective health over a tank with similar stats but 2000 less armor (iirc the post on tankspot re: armor and effective health).

The bad thing is that putting you in the aforementioned situation, or in one where you have to tank 3 or more mobs, would at best leave your healer oom and increase downtime, or at the worst wipe the group after you go down too quickly for the healer to keep you up.

Give it a try, but I would also suggest bringing stam food, flasks or elixirs, runes of warding for your chest armor, and sharpening stones for your weapon.

Cool! Another Troll Warrior! :D

Your gear and stats are pretty close to what mine were when I started doing Heroics. Stick to the 'easier' ones and bring good CC and a decent Healer and you should do fine. Getting more stamina is a good idea but keep in mind that the minimum recommended dodge/parry rating is 30% so keep those numbers up as well.

The Heroics that I find easiest so far are Mech, Bot, SP and Underbog.
