Auto Shoot MacroFollow

#1 Feb 19 2008 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
Hello,

I am pretty new to this whole Macro thing. Is there a way to make a Macro that will allow me to fire my Bow one time and then stop? I ask since this could be useful when I get around to doing instances and am asked to Trap.

Cheers!

Yes, see the WoW Wiki page on hunter macros. There's several useful ones in there, including the one you want.

I know about the esc thing. I am trying to avoid having to do that. Its not the safest way to stop autoshoot. ;)

perfectly safe, or you can shoot an arcane shot and then esc out- nothing to worry about and instant :)

Yeah. I agree with Caldone. Arcane shot is what I use every time to trap. Just becasue it is a single shot, I don't have to worry about engaging the guy I'm suppossesd to be trapping.

There are several ways you can do this...

One has been mentioned already: just hit the ESC key.

What I tend to use is a macro consisting simply of the following (if I remember correctly):
#showtooltip Distracting Shot
/cast Distracting Shot
/stopcasting
(or /stopattack, I forget which one I'm using, and I'm at work now)
You can replace Distracting Shot with Arcane Shot if you rather use that.

This way I don't have to worry about hitting another key when trapping. Sometimes there's already enough going on.

Another thing you can do is turn off sticky targeting in the interface options. Then, you can just click your target, Arcane Shot or Distracting Shot, and then click off the target (click the ground or something, not another mob). That makes you stop attacking right away.

What i do when trapping is fire an arcane shot, back up and switch targets, you cant shoot while moving, and its a good idea to not stand anywhere near your trap(los them into it)incase of resists. I also turn my auto shoot/attack off in my options, that way you dont melee the mob if your by it when it freezes.
