Felguard PvP (5v5)Follow

#1 Feb 18 2008 at 8:45 PM Rating: Decent
So my 5s team has finally decided to split since people finally learned how to beat us. We're giving it one more shot after going 1-9 last week, and if it's terrible again we're gonna start a new team. We plan on running resto druid, holy paladin, elem shaman, felg lock (me), and a warrior.

Now, the problem is I have never specced felguard...ever. If I'm going felg pvp for sbolt spam, what should I spec? Also how do I play with a felg? I've heard I have to macro some stuff for interrupts, but these were from non-warlocks.

Basically how do I spec 5v5 felg and how do I play it?

I only do BG´s with my Felguard, but i am probably soon doing arena as well.

What i do for example take out a healer is, set the Felguard to intercept the healer. While Feluard is running/intercepting i cast immolate and immediatly Curse of Agony and after that Corruption. After that i cast a deathcoil which leaves
the healer first stunned than loaded with DoTs and than feared due to deathcoil.
Usually i cast a shadowburn right after deathcoil, which either leaves the healer/target with very little health, or dead. If he ain´t dead cast searing pain to take him out...works like a charm

There are two builds as i see it for arena with your felguard.

this build will give you the advantage of an instant DoT and very good
mana-control, both for you and your pet. This is especially important in long fights.

and than there is this build:

This build is less manaefficient and has no instant corruption, but
you have 4% more crit and abit of a push-back resistance.

The Felguards Intercept has a 30 seconds cooldown and can only be used in a range from 8-25 meters if i remember correctly, so what you want to do is either controll his charge manually and just send the felguard in and use the Intercept on an opponent who is at least 8 meters away from your Felguard, to stun him for 3 seconds and interrupt him.
Or you want to have your Felguard intercept the opponent right away.

With your setup you can use the Felguards ability to cleave at all times, since
there is no CC in your group which is broken instantly upon recieving dmg (correct me if i am wrong)

~6sec Agony,Corruption and immolation + DC and sburn gets someone in low health? Ppl have ~4-5k health in your battlegroup?

If you meant that the healer would already be almost dead, then your tactic might work like a charm :P

This might be a little offtopic but with certain amount of imagination this might be helpful to the original poster.

Oaken:
What if your opponent has 8-9k hp and starts to cast heal on him/herself? You have just spent all your interrupt spells (except fear, but hey, it's not instant and you're casting searing pains atm)?

Just my thoughts, now what are yours? :)

hope searing pain crits,
but usually a healer has never been able to heal through my dmg, yet.

That may work in battlegrounds, but it would never work in arenas. Every healer I face has 9k+, or else they wouldn't be in 2k arenas.

Anyway, I was looking over the specs you gave me, and the first one isn't what I'm looking for. I edited the second one a little bit because I don't think my demon will be taking too much damage. I'm pretty sure the druid or the elem shaman is going to get focused over me.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000002050030133250101511351505000412200000000000

It basically sacrifices two points in demonic resilience for two in destructive reach. I'm going for a burn spec, not survival.

So for strategy, leave cleave on auto, save intercept for a healer when we're burning someone... anything else? (Obviously I know the normal burn strats for 5s and how to manage the warlock, just need help on the pet)
