Hello, I have aspirations of making a PvP Tauren Warrior.

My question is: Which pair would benefit this character most?

For PvP, you won't find much to make BoP in BS. Mining will always make money. Herb will make some money and you use Pots in BG and PvP. With the added racial Taurens get, herb/alch would work fine

Both would work well for PvP:
Alchemy can create useful pots tat you will definitely need in PvP
Blacksmithing can create handy weapons/armor, but there's always a better item out there it's that it's going to take some work to get it whether it's PvP or a PvE drop.
Herbs helps Alchemy.
Mining can bring in good money which you can use to make blacksmithing items, buy pots, or put some badass enchants on your gear.

i'm assuming you meant BoE. no, i guess not. but, do you know what this is? this is the best reason to pick up blacksmithing for PvP; a 4 second stun proc in addition to the talented stun proc is golden, right up there or better than the 2h sword talented extra attack proc.

Well, do you consider the potions or epic weapons more important?

Aren't there better weapons outside of BS anyways?

not if you're looking to win in arena. in BG's you can pretty much swing a stick around and still get some honor if everyone else does the work for you, but winning in arena takes more than damage output. high resilience means fewer crits for you and less overall damage output... teamwork and locking out the other team's dps/cc/healer(s) are much, much more important than zomghugedps. the stun proc from the weapon and your talents gives you that, plus pummel, intercept stun, disarm, possibly concussion blow, and also your war stomp as a tauren. minus disarm, that gives you a possible 4(pummel)+4(stormherald stun proc)+3(intercept stun)+3(talented 2h mace stun)+5(concussion blow)+2(war stomp) = 21 seconds of locking someone out of dpsing or healing. that is a long time to not receive or heal damage.

Good point.

If I do choose to go with BS, is mining worth keeping due to the money income?

I think you got it mixed up. BS without mining is very costly. Mining will make you money with or without BS. I would keep one gathering skill at all times. Mining and skinning works also, as you skin all the beasts and mine all the nodes wiuth only one icon on the mini-map

While you are leveling (and especially if you dont have financial support from more well-developed alts), it is highly advisable to take two gathering professions up to 70. Once you've made yourself a good stack of money and leveling mats for a crafting profession, then you can drop your gathering professions and powerlevel your crafting professions.

If you choose mining and BS, then you can provide for your own BS skillups starting from a low level, but unless youre looking to maximize performance in low to mid-level play, I would just go with two gathering professions.
