Ok, so I finally got my 67 ding and crafted the Fel Leather Gloves. I went the AH and looked up yellow and red gems. For yellow I could choose between +6 hit for 1.5g or +8 hit for 32g. I didn't see the point in paying 30g extra for 2 hit, so I went with the green gem. I now see i might have screwed up on my red socket and could have got an orange gem that gave me hit and agi instead of just agi, so i am going to replace it.

What would you guys suggest for this kind of gear? Is it really worth going balls to the wall on gems for blue items that I will only wear until I get a Kara drop or should I stick with the green gems until I get those phat epix? Also, was 15 agi a waste of money on these gloves? The enchant wasn't much of problem since I have a DE alt that makes plenty of money and gets the mats cheap.

Think about it this way. If your entire guild had the mentality of not placing the superior quality gems in their sockets, and you wipe on an encounter at 1%, then you'd be kicking yourself in the a$$.

Also, not sure about how your guild allocates loot(loot council or DKP), but if you do use loot council, usually everything is taken into consideration on item upgrades(enchants/gems). So there's also that to keep in mind.

Don't buy expensive gems until you get lvl 70 blues or epics. On pre-70 gear, it will be quickly replaced and is therefor not worth the cost of the gems.

especially those gloves, 1 drop from arc, 1 drop in bm, 2 drops in kara replaces those easy

Actually the gloves that drop in Arc and BM don't replace them.

The only gloves with more AEP than Fel Leather are Wastewalker and then ONLY if you have another piece of Wastewalker for the 35 hit rating set bonus.

I would spend the money for good gems in there. I di dand I ended up wearing them a lot longer than I thought I would.

AEP is a nice guideline, but Shadowpanther also has the Fel Leather Gloves set above the T4 gloves.

There's just no way to account for set bonuses in AEP.

I agree Demea, and that's why I said Wastewalker is better than Fel LEather when you have 2 pieces of the set.

I don't find that the 2-piece bonus for Assassination is very worthwhile in PVE since you really shouldn't be using cheap shot or kidney shot THAT much. (Yes there are occassions where a well-timed stun can save the day, but it's not as often used as in PVP)

Not to mention the Fel Leather Gloves are guaranteed. Anybody with the time/money to get the mats can have them made. You are never guaranteed to get the Assassination or Wastewalker gloves.

But what do you think is the limit on items of this quality? Granted the 1.8g investment per gem is fine for leveling, but when I go to Kara do I stop at the 30g blue gem or go all out and get the 400g epic gem?

I would get the 30g blue gem. Those 300g epic gems belong in epic gear imo.

I rest my case.

Probably you'll wear those gloves for a while and 30G is nothing for a level 67+. So get the +8 hit gem and the +4hit/+4agi gem.

LoL...Ok, you got me there. I will look into getting the new gems tonight or next time I play. I do have to be careful though...the DE scheme seems to be running dry on my server. =(
