Fire Mage Crit % HelpFollow

Hey guys, quick question.

Is there a diminishing returns point with crit%?

Right now self buffed I'm looking at 1012 fire with 34.40% fire crit.
The Mage class lead of my guild has roughly the same fire dmg with an extra 4% crit on top of what I have.

What should I concentrate more on dmg or crit?
(My Spell hit is already capped as well)

You can view my armory there http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Magtheridon&n=Sephir

Thanks in advance everyone!

Basic thing to remember is that as crit goes up, fire damage becomes more valuable. As fire damage goes up, crit becomes more valuable.

Really, 1 point of fire damage will almost always be worth more than 1 point of crit. However, you want a balance of both. And since I'm guessing you raid, remember that +hit is worth more than either damage or crit until you're hit capped.

Maybe I'm missing something here but where exactly do I find the magic 164 Hit cap value (with elemental precision) in the character screen?

What do you mean? It doesn't tell you in game that this is the magic number. Testing had to be done to figure out the percentage +hit needed, then it was simple math.

Over over your spell hit, you should be shooting for it to tell you 13% (assuming you have elemental precision) because against raid bosses there is a 16% deficiency that must be made up (83% + 16% + 1% (always a 1% chance to miss, no matter what).
