Question regarding HeroicsFollow

If this has been covered already in a previous post I apologize in advance. I've read and use the pre raid sticky guide like a bible >< but my question is regarding Heroics. I saw that some of the gear in the guide was obtained through Heroic Instances so I thought I would give one a shot. Figured Ramparts would be a good starter one to get a feel for it......ouch. Holy hell they hit a lot harder! I thought I had pretty decent gear for the time being (char is Magha <Burning Blade> on Uldaman server, but 2 or 3 shots from a stray mob and I was dead soon followed by tank, priest etc. Was just wondering if anyone had any tips for these or just maybe we need to practice some more. Thanks for the Help!

I am not able to look at your armory, but unless you are decked out in PvP + sta gear, you will be 1-3 shotted in heroics. You shouldn't be taking hits anyway. I don't know the circumstances for which you died before the tank.(I don't want to make assumptions so I will cover the possibilities)

If you pulled agro you need to learn to control that. Give the tank a chance to get agro, get omen, misdirect. All agro helpers.

If you died from the mob you were suppose to trap, then that's something else. First, don't stand where you put your trap. Move back a few steps to a few yards. This gives a buffer zone, if the trap works, you are never touched, if it is resisted you have that much more space between you and the mob to use concussive shot or any other kiting tools to buy you some time to lay your next trap.

Learning to kite is key in heroics. You have to go into each pull thinking that there is a good chance your trap will be resisted and if that mob touches you, you will die, so you need to be on your toes every pull, and be ready to use your arsonal to keep that mob CCed and not touching you. Don't you dare touch that feign death button either. That's basically a "kill the healer" button in heroics.

Sorry I couldn't check the gear though, that's an important part of it to.

Welcome to the real world, in heroics: you **** up, everyone dies.
A stray mob measn the group dies, not much else to say about it besides that you need to learn to use your head now ;)

Cause in raids its only going to be worse.
1 mistake (even a small one) can kill 10 (or 25) people.

You should be able to run H Ramparts. Your gear level is a bit low to just romp through the place, but you've done your work on augments and gems. With a similar level group H Ramparts is not out of your league, you just need to work more as a team on CC, communications, and pace. Given that this was your first time in it's not surprising you had some troubles. Your Thrallmar rep is at Honored, so it's possible that you haven't run Ramparts much even on regular difficulty. Run Ramparts on regular level a few times with the same group to familiarize yourself with the pulls. They are identical to the Heroic pulls, but making a few mistakes won't be as punishing. Once you know the rhythm then give it another shot on Heroic.

Ok thanks for the advice everyone. I'll def try to work on my kiting and cc a lil better cause I agree if I die before the tank it's usually my own fault. Unlike a lot of players I have no problems admitting when I make a mistake. However I work at said mistakes to prevent them fom happening again. Also I'll get the group together and do a couple trial runs just to get marking/sheeping/trapping down first. thanks again for help!

I've found heroic Ramparts is a test of teamwork. If the group can avoid wiping when pulling the first batch of orcs and wolves on the right just past the first bridge, you'll be fine.

However I also have noticed the mobs at the beginning of heroic Ramparts are unusually likely to resist my freeze trap. I suggest waiting for the cooldown to be up before pulling. That way you can lay a second trap if the first is resisted. Be ready to feign death too. Tell the tank he might just have to tank one more if you can't trap the mob.
