Damage Output questionFollow

I have respecced a few times to try to increase maximum damage using the BM/MM combo, and the Survival/MM combo.

Truth is though, I can't touch my max damage with any other spec than 0/42/19. With the attack power it gives, my damage goes through the roof.

Every raiding hunter I talk to swear though that they do more damage as BM, OR survival/mm.

Can any informed people tell me why this is, or what I'm missing?

You're ignoring the fact that BM hunters get an additional attack speed increase that makes up for the lower attack power, and a buffed up pet that increases your damage by 3% with about an 80% uptime. That's also ignoring Bestial Wrath/The Beast Within, which greatly increases your damage every 2 minutes.

If you don't believe it, do a little research on what WoW Web Stats are, and study your damage breakdown. Do a few raids as you 0/42/19 build, and then do a few raids with the 41/20 build. You'll be amazed.

Marksman just isn't that great for raiding anymore.
