Will get in new raid build this week, as I finally put down my warlock and tested it out myself. Hate posting stuff if I haven't tried it personally.

Ok, I'm very new to the Mage game, but please humor me. I am aware of the level 30 spell "Ice Block", but see nothing about a talent of the same name. Your Frost talent lines are listing 1 point to a spell? Did I miss a new talent in a patch? The numbers are not adding up? Can you explain?

The frost talent setup section needs to be redone. Ice Block used to be a talent. If I have time tonight, I'll work on that.

Anyway, the only question I have is what spec should I be if I want to solo as frost?
I mean:
Level 10-15: Get x talent
I have a 31 fire mage, and frankly fire is BORING. Unless Frost will really slow down my leveling, I want to try frost.

The computer at work I use to update this(it's strange, but some of the advertisements lock up the other computer and I can't install Firefox) has been in the shop since last week.
As soon as it gets back, I'll be updating a bit.
It's looking unlikely that the work comp that doesn't freeze on ads will be getting fixed any time soon, so tonight I'm gonna write an addition and try to get it edited into the sticky quickly in hopes that limited exposure to ads won't cause a lock up.

Updated to include the 11 frost Icy Veins spec. And to edit 48 fire to reflect that it can be used in 2/48/11. Added an addendum to reflect how I would build the 48 fire, as well.
As usual, one of the ads managed to lock up my work comp, but at least it waited until after I had made the adjustments.

Nice mage's guide I have always thought of compiling a massive mage's guide of like everything you need to be a mage but you beat me to it for a majority.

If there is anything that you notice is missing or whatever feel free to right up an addition and we will throw it in there. It is also in the wiki now (I believe Mage 101 is the title) so it can be edited there as well.

I've been considering writing an arcane mage guide for Allakhazam. Is this the kind of thing you would like to include in this post? Should I write it as a Wiki, include it into the Wiki that is already made for this guide? Would you rather just have it linked like some of the other guides?
Also, for arcane specs, putting 53 points in the arcane tree is outdated as is 11 points in fire. Theres two successful raid specs for using 2pc t5 arcane raiding, 50/0/11 and 40/0/21. I can post these builds once I get home, O-site seems to be screwy today and Wowhead is blocked.

Finally got around to adding a section on what race to choose as a mage since it was part of the original table of contents. Also added it into the wiki.
Goofed up a little formatting, but had to get it plugged in and done before I ended up locking up, which I narrowly avoided.

The race breakdown was very thorough and went beyond any sort of kvetching I would have done about it as far as actually being help. Thanks for sticking that in there Poldaran.

No prob. It was an entertaining way to kill an extremely boring Saturday night at work.
Not to mention that adding it to the Wiki had to have been good for at least a couple contest entries.

I am twinking a 29 BE Mage, does anyone know what the best gear is and what quests are needed? I have been looking at a bunch of sites but between kids and work I dont have much time to read and read and look all over!!
