+Strength, +Int gear?Follow

So I am playing an Enhancement Shaman, and I just got to level 40. I've put 3 points into Mental Quickness, so I get +30% of my attack power added to my heals and spell damage. That certainly seems pretty impressive, and I was hoping I'd be able to act as a main healer in instances (at least until the really hard stuff later), since I currently currently just about have a +100 bonus.

However, I need a mana pool for that, I'd think, but it seems the game doesn't care for providing +Strength (for attack power) gear with +Intelligence gear, even though that would seem to make a lot of sense for Shamans. Generally it seems hard to find any decent amount of +Strength with gear that increases healing or spells (which isn't too surprising in general, I suppose)*. Is that largely how it is for most of the game?

I do know I can just carry around healing gear for when I need to be healing in an instance, but I rather wanted to maximize the utility of my Mental Quickness talent for such gear. It just doesn't look like that will be possible (and that's disappointing). Am I missing anything?

*A long time ago they tweaked greens so they'd be less likely to drop "undesirable" ability boost combinations, didn't they?

lol I was wandering when someone would try something like this for lower level shaman, would mean a bit of green gorilla gear though.

this wont be affective, but, at lower levels I found that I could easily dps, tank, or heal in instances while lvling spec enh (really isn't much in earlier part of resto shaman tree to make you much better anyhow)

anyhow, I would suggest having another off healer if you are chosen to heal for an instance since you aren't spec for it and your gear wont be great.

Drach you're correct in assuming there's not much +Str/+Int gear throughout the game.

The +30% talent is mainly there to encourage you to focus purely on DPS gear (instead of having to worry about balancing between +dmg and +str gear and inevitably being bad at both).

Does it have healing utility? Yes. However I'd assume that due to itemization calculations it's always going to be worse to use Str/AP gear than to use designated healing gear (because when you're main healing the strength isn't going to have the two-fold utility it has while you're DPSing)

As long as you keep a healing set and your group isn't woefully outmatched by an instance, you can mainheal perfectly fine as Enhancement til level 65 or so.

The only gear with +STR and +INT on it that i know of is the "of the gorrila" gear. But i think mental quickness is more for dmg capabilities like said above. Your shocks and LB's are doing more damage. And yes it does help you heal, but not by much. When i heal i usually switch from my badarse looking armor with 2 pimpin maces, to a bunch of clothie crap and a stick. But atleast i can heal pre-outlands fairly well.

P.S. ive notice that the +30 to spell increases the healing capabilities of Healing totem, but sadly not mana totem );
