Guild is wanting one of our hunters to change specs to SV for raiding purposes. My question is with this build http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/hunter/talents.html?0000000000000000000000000000000000000000033303022002300000000000| Yes i'll have an extra 40 points that i'll probably spend in BM since that is what i've been since day one, but will I need a huge gear change since SV needs a boatload of agility to make it work?

Also would it be possible to save one extra point to get the beast within talen from BM without losing a lot of CC abilities?

Or I guess in the end is SV really that needed for kara and heroic runs since my guild is extremely low on 70's I don't see us hitting any of the 25 mans for quite a while and I figure if BM will be okay for the 10 mans we are running now, I'll just slowly save up agility gear that no one else needs/wants when we run kara and then just respec when we start running 25 man raids.

BM/SV serves no other purpose then soloing.

If you want to go raiding as SV, try this

Or just go 41/20/0 cookie cutter BM if you want to stay BM.

For the link you posted you dont need agility.. it doesnt have the valuable SV talents yet (and it even is screwed up badly......)

For your second question: link armory please.
And no, SV isnt needed. Its just a lot better at heroics then BM.
And for trash before attumen and the moroes fight, having someone with trapping abilities is nice.

For Kara: absolutely not. There are only a few places where hunters are really needed for trapping in Kara, and there usually isn't enough physical DPS to really make Expose Weakness worth more than a BM/MM build... Unless the SV hunter is grossly overgeared.

For heroics, a BM/SV build will make trapping a little easier, but gimps your DPS and doesn't give you any extra options for additional crowd control. For heroics, I really think that you should stick with either a BM/MM raid build or go for the SV/MM endless crit/CC Master build.

So working on your gear until your guild starts running 25-mans is a good idea. It'll give you time to really get ready for the change.

Get the leather gloves from attumen, they have insane agility and its hard to lay those down easely, even in T5 content ;)
I've got a +8 agi and a 4crt/6 stam gem in it (last one for meta gem) add a +15 agi enchant to it and you get 58(!) agility out of that pair of gloves.

wow the gloves would be nice, but am afraid that I'd probably be rolling against our rogue who would probably get priority. Nice to know that an SV hunter isn't really needed right away.

Think I'll stick with my comfortable BM/MM build

Its from attumen, so if you have been raiding kara for a while every rogue already has em.
And then you're rolling against druids, who want it for offspec just like you.

Sounds like your Guild wants a SV Hunter and you're looking for a way to pretend you've filled that role while continuing to play the BM spec which you prefer.

It's not going to work. If your Guild wants a SV Hunter they want 3/3 Expose Weakness. Spec to that and then spend the rest of the points how you wish. Just be aware that criticals are what feeds EW. So you'll at least need to buy 5/5 Lethal Shots. And there are other MM Talents which make the most out of criticals, such as 2/2 GFtT and 5/5 Mortal Shots. So if you want to be effective, you'll be playing SV/mm, and will haver very few or no points to spare for the BM tree.

Yea our guild is still pretty green with regards to raiding, so gloves might have to wait a while.

As far as respecing goes, think I'll just go along with what some of the other posters here have said about not worrying to much about being an SV hunter for kara and heroics and just wait till we start hitting the 25 man raids which with the way our guild is sadly slowly crawling through kara (having trouble getting first 2 bosses down without wipes....sad I know) it probably won't be an issue since the next big expansion will be out and the 25 man raids won't be ran, much like the old ZG, AQ40's
