you need to ask? lamellar gear is mostly spell damage. i don't really know who uses it except maybe a shockadin or a prot pally trying to do pvp. its pretty worthless for ret. ornate is clearly healing gear. useful for ret if you want a second set of gear for healing in pvp. not useful for dps'ing, obviously. s1/s2 scaled gear is useful for noone.... until patch 2.4. it has no resil, too little str/crit and pointless spell damage. after 2.4 it will have resil and more str :-D at that point i'll recommend it. Plate gear is the best at the moment for ret pallys. s3 scaled gear is definitely the best for Ret pvp. more str than plate (less crit though sadly) and it has int.

scaled is only best really when you're looking at s3 gear. but when 2.4 comes out scaled will probably be better for ret than plate will be... just keep that in mind too. for now, i'd go plate if you think you'll have the honor for scaled by the time 2.4 comes out.
