It's that time again...Follow

Well, I'm still in the process of getting better gear (because we all know I need it) and am still in the process of getting honor for the s1 MH.

My question is, do I even have the slightest chance of making it and doing well in a heroic instance?

I'm not saying that I'm going to jump in right away especially when I'm still working on getting honor (reason why I have imp sprint on my talents as of right now), but would what I have be sufficient enough?

I just feel like I'm lagging behind because of how long it's taking me to gear.

Before anything is said, I am in the process of getting mongoose on, Fiery is the only one I, personally, can do at the moment, just needing to find someone to enchant it for me.

Thanks for any posts =)

MH needs to be upgraded badly. Try running normal Mech for the Edge of the Cosmos to hold you over until you get that S1 blade (the same boss also drops a nice trinket and a nice chest piece).

You also really need to upgrade your hands and head. Handgrips of Assassination are fairly easy to obtain, and another nice trinket drops in the same instance. For the head piece, I'd recommend grabbing the Helm of the Claw.

Once you get those slots upgraded, you should be okay to enter some of the easier heroics. I'd focus on normal level 70 instances for now until you boost your stats a little.

Yeah I did start running the quest for the helm, but never got to finish. Maybe I'll be able to later tonight.

I'll try to see if I can 'con' some friends to run some stuff with me.

Thanks for the advice though Demea =)

Just some friendly advice, don't ever think that you are lagging behind, because the truth of the matter is that you are always behind. Unless the guild specifically needs something from you, there's no reason for you to rush rush rush because you are always behind and always have something to do. So pace yourself, because if you are like me, you will not sniff Assassination until you are Exalted with factions.

Too bad you are not Engineering, the omgwtfbbq Goggles got an upgraded version in the next release.

But looking at your armory, you need to start on instances if thats accurate, theres a lot missing.

Yeah I've been trying to do instances but we either have a problem finding a tank or finding a healer (what else is new). My luck hasn't been good at all either. Seriously, in all the runs I've done I've only gotten one good drop that helped me. I hated it.

I don't necessarily feel like I'm lagging behind in my guild... in fact I'm one of the only two 70s in there at the moment and I think I'm play my toon very well, it's looking at all of the other 70s out there that make me feel a bit eh.

I know it takes work, but still, that feeling is still there lol.

Edit: I did originally have engineering, but it was a money drain to me since I don't have mining.

I love the fact your offhand has a higher top end damage than your Main hand :D

Thats so bizzare...

I know what its like feeling the need to *gear-up* in a rush. You want to explain to people "Actually, I know how to play. I just haven't got the gear to play well yet".

Stick with it though, you will get there in the end. Don't worry too much about the Meta Gem slots, the 24ap/minor run increase gem you get from spirit shards is fine since you aren't in any serious content yet. A small upgrade for your legs are from Consortium rep. If you can be bothered to spend the gold on them until you get the Assassination Leggings. Avoid the Assassination shoulders, helm & chestpiece though. They seriously suck *** for some reason. Helm of the claw is better, the shoulders you have now are good too. Its just the hands that need replacing.

If you want to start opening up Deadly Throw as a move, Fitz's Throwing Axe and Felsteel Whisper Knifes are easily obtainable options you can use in PvP but have more PvE based stats (Keep in mind Deadly Throw is instant so weapon speed isn't an issue). As of 2.4 these will apparently come live. They look very nice, especially as us human rogues get racial boost to our expertise skill with swords.

Improve sprint is a really good talent filler in the combat tree. Removing riposte and 3/3 in imp. Eviscerate and switching them to 20/41/0 is your standard *cookie cutter* raiding sword spec. Vile poisons is taken over improved poisons under the assumption that if you are raiding with Windfury totem in your mainhand, deadly poison will be in your offhand and once you have 5 stacks of deadly poison up improved poisons starts to lose ground to the increased dps from deadly.

You probably don't have to worry about that though for a while, but 5/5 lethality is a big dps boost if you drop parry/riposte & you can still keep Imp.eviscerate for grinding & bleed immune bosses.

Edit:Doh... forgot to add talent link.

Alright also take advantage of the fact that it's Alterac Valley weekend. You should be able to get the MH fairly easily especially if you have some honor points saved up. I believe it's 18k for MH, I did it a last time it was AV weekend starting from 57 honor

As Demea said, stick to the regular instances for now, your health is a tad low for heroics, and you're still sporting some greens.

Upgrades until you get some pieces from your Assassination set. Crafted by Leatherworkers, so just a suggestion.

I believe I just put this in another thread, but I'll say it again....if you haven't been to www.shadowpanther.net, check it out. The gear list is very helpful in finding upgrades. I'm aiming for the highest dps pieces I can get (without sacrificing balanced stats) without running Kara or Heroics, then I figure I'll be ready for both.

It has been said that these stats are what you want to aim for as a minimum for starting Kara, and since these are easily obtainable without running heroics, I'd assume the same stats (maybe slightly less?) are good for starting heroics.
7000 health
1400 AP
150 hit
20% crit
pair of (at least) 71 dps weapons

The Fel Leather stuff is great for a dps boost, but unless you have other pieces with a whole lot of STA, you're probably going to be lacking in health if you wear all 3. I got Cobrascale Gloves crafted instead of the Fel Leather ones.

You may also want to check out the Sandbox at www.warcrafter.net. It'll let you swap different pieces and see how your stats all add up. I've found it really helpful in figuring out what would be a better upgrade when faced with more than one choice. Plus you can swap gems and enchants too.

I'd also recommend enchanting the pieces you have that you'll be keeping for a while, and also enchanting new pieces as you get them. And if you're not already Revered with Cenerian Exp, you should get there. You'll want to get the Glyph of Ferocity for that Helm of the Claw when you get it.

No clue who did it, but as the OP, I do appreciate your help =)

That is actually subpar for Kara based on my experiences most Rogues that I raided with were around 180 hit, 1500 AP and 22-23 crit.

Anyways, back to the OP, just do heroics for badges (no good swords though) in your down time so you can maybe hop over some of the gear in Kara.

Yeah from the previous threads I've spoken in, that'd be the minimum for Kara.

I think I'm just going to have to run a whole bunch of stuff to upgrade my gear first before running heroics. Reading all of these threads, I just don't feel I'm ready, gear-wise, to run.

Your gear is fine for Heroics to be honest, Rogues aren't limited by gear after the weapons in Heroics, namely because the mobs will probably 1-2 shot us anyways, and any increase to sustained damage isn't going to matter that much due to the duration of the fights. Just replace that MH with something better, hell you can even go Combat Daggers/Mutilate and it'll be better than that CK sword.

That said, find a good tank and healer, competent CC and you'll be fine.
