Steady Shot/ArcaneFollow

Let me start off by saying that I am frickin loving my hunter. I have had wonderful, sound advice from the forums that has taught me new things and made me a better hunter. I dinged 62 last night and finally get to utilize the macro that I have seen all over the boards. My question is this - do I just spam that or is there a time that I throw an Arcane Shot in there? I am using the cookie cutter BM/MM Spec. The Macro that I am using is:

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Hide()
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, !Auto Shot
/cast [exists,target=pettarget] Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear(); UIErrorsFrame:Show()

Thanks in advance!

Ha that sounds like a plan! Another thing I have been doing while in instances is to sick the pet on the mob, start an aimed shot and then go into my macro rotation (granted the tank is good and can hold aggro). Is this ok to do or am I losing dps by charging my aimed shot instead of spamming the macro? Once in my rotation I don't use Aimed shot - its mainly just an opener.

1 aimed shot does less damage the 2 steady and an autoshot, wich you would get off in around the same time...

There are only two times to use Aimed Shot in group PvE.

1. Your target is known to try to heal itself, and you know that it will try during the duration.
2. As one of the 3 shots during a misdirect.

At any other time, it is better to use your SS/AS/KC macro.

One note: You don't get Kill Command until 66. I don't know if it will affect your macro having it in there while not actually having the spell.

Yeah I checked and the macro still works despite not having Kill Command. I just left that part of the macro in there.

If you want, you can substitute arcane shot and multi shot for steady shot. This will up your dps slightly at a significant mana cost. As such, it's usually not worth it unless you have a sPriest in your group, or a pally laying down seal of wisdom.

Aimed shot is worthwhile against Warpsplinter in Botanica. He's one of those bosses that heals himself regularly. Last week we had two hunters alternately hitting him with aimed shot to keep the debuff up and he dropped really quickly. Now if he'll just drop my boots (heroic mode) I'll be thrilled.

The shiva boss in Arc too. It's a predictable heal to. Just use aimed shot every time she does her whirlwind, because the heal follows right after it. It helps when you get scared warrior tanks that are afraid to take one hit from the whirlwind to use shield bash(because you won't get in there in time if you don't start running while she at the end of her whirlwind).

I don't really understand that. When I tanked it I always just sat in the whirlwind, it really isn't that much damage. Even on heroic.

I always run out and come back with a Shield Bash. Mainly because you avoid damage, relieve the healer and it's not even hard to do. If you've got trouble timing the interrupt on the heal afterward it might be better to stay close. Thing is I don't, and my healers (especially PUG ones) would think me very lazy and obnoxious if I just sat there like a rag doll expecting healzzz.

It is definitely possible to get an arcane shot in there. Pop it right after your steady shot ends.
