I'm just curious - does freeze trap have a higher resist rate than other forms of CC, or does it seem that way (to some) because we can trap everything and there fore resists appear to be more frequent?
#2REDACTED, Posted: Feb 14 2008 at 5:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i think it can trap anything (npc wise) but i wish it wouldn't disappear after you attack it

Actually, the reason is because if sheep, seduce, banish, hibernate, etc get resisted or break, it can be reapplied. Trap you have to wait for the 20-30 second CD (depending on talents and gear).

We can't trap everything. IIRC, most giants, water elementals, and bosses are immune to trap.

But the inherent resist rate for freeze and poly are the same?

I'm sure there are numbers you could check to verify that, but I'd doubt it. From the perspective of a level 70 Hunter, Mage and Rogue, traps definitely seem to resist more often and break earlier than other forms of crowd control (and when was the last time you saw a sap resist?). Hunter CC may be the most versatile in the game but its also the least reliable.

Which I believed should be changed. Hunters are a legit CC class, and we should be as reliable as mages are.

I've rarely had issues CCing on my hunter.

In reply to Fanoran, I don't believe that hunter traps should be made on par with Sheep or Sap in respect to resist rate. I feel this way because traps can often be used on things that cannot be sapped or sheeped (shept?). They have a wider range of application, hence a lower range of reliability.

Which I am fine with really. I don't usually see many trap resists, freeze or otherwise. Only when I try to use them on something that is immune can I recently recall a trap not working.

Honestly, what good is a form of CC that isn't reliable?

That is strange; I have had more traps resisted or expire very shortly this week for some reason. The only thing different is the vengeful gladiator’s war axe that I now have. I would bet that my successful entrapment is under 25% this week, I have had traps resisted and expire quickly before, especially on the second entrapment, but this week has sucked.

Sheep, Seduce, Shackle and freeze trap are all spells and therefore all have the same inherent resist rate. However, when was the last time you saw a mage or warlock that didn't have +spell hit?

Priests sometimes do if they're shadow, but healers don't get a benefit to healing spells with +hit. And if I ever see a Hunter with +spell hit, he better be SV and doing ONLY heroic 5-mans and a trap master, or I'll slap the crap out of him.

Nope, I live in California, but was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV.

And Synn, c'mon I give any hunter that posts on here SOME credit for knowing not to act like a mage with a bow. We may go PEW PEW PEW, but we have a pet that goes RAWR too which makes us really go RAWRPEW RAWRPEW RAWRPEW.
