Quick clarification question on weapon speeds. I currently use Drakefist hammer with S1 OH mace. I got to lookin at the kara loot tables and saw that Netherspite drops a nice sword with a 2.70 weapon speed, that isnt unique. My question is, would using 2 of these (should I even get them) hurt my damage having 2 slow weapons? Why is a fast OH so much more desired? Any help is appreciated.
faster OH = more poison procs. Also since you don't have any instant attacks for OH (shiv doesnt really matter to your dps), how hard your OH hits doesnt matter.
Dont know where the math came from, but I think 0.1 speed = 10 dps (weapon poisoned).

I don't like fast weapons as much because they miss more than slower ones. That's just me though.

Fast OH is there for poison procs, sure, but it's really there for Combat Potency.

That's probably the single most retarded statement I've ever seen on these forums. Of course a fast weapon will miss more, but the rate at which it misses will be the same (on average) as a slow weapon. In other words, it misses more because it swings more. Anybody with even the loosest grasp of rogue mechanics should understand that.
A fast offhand is essential to good DPS, especially using a PvE combat spec. Not only does it increase your rate of poison procs, as stated above, but it also increases your returns from Combat Potency. More energy is more instant attacks, and that's more damage, more CPs, more efficient cycles, and less SnD downtime.

How do you get to 70 and not know these things?

You have got to be kidding...Are you exceptionally stupid or something? They have the same miss % but faster weapons hit more often so you see more misses but the % of missed hits between a slow wep and a fast wep is the same.

Well, I only have a level 27 rogue right now. He is leveling combat swords because I found that to be the best spec to level as. I tried DW'ing daggers but they seemed to miss a lot more than the swords because of their speed.
I guess I was a little lost when I read what the OP had to say. I was saying that I liked swords over daggers or maces in general. I also knew about the poison proc'ing from the faster OH weapon. I was thinking very clearly. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Faster offhands will also lead to more sword spec procs.
I know, but I'm only level 27. So I don't have that many.
Plus once you get more +hit, you'll land more of those hits
Faster (especially 1.30) offhands also make you look funny when you have S&D, Bladeflurry, Abacus of Violent odds & Heroism buff up at once.

Please almighty God-like Admins, one of you please sticky a thread about weapon speed. It would at least reduce the idiotic posts on this forum by 25%(*is being optimistic about that number*).
