My advice, keep the skills you have. Pick up fishing and cooking. As you farm/kill crap, fish, as you quest, get the meat and make food. Once you get to OL and start hitting up fishing spots there you will start getting crazy amounts of primal water. Along with the primals you can sell, everyone likes stat food, so sell it. I have guildies who can easily make 500g a day from simply farming a few hours before raids, or while waiting for a group.
If you want to make serious money though, Drop LW and pick up mining, fishing, and cooking. With all the crap you can farm with these skills you will have more money than you know what to do with. Have fun.
As to your original question, crafted armor is "ok". You will get better from raids and some instances. If you like leatherworking then keep it. You can make armor kits and other nifty things to sell. I have a few sets of drums on my toon to help out in raids and instances. But, as a 70 with 375 skill I am not wearing anything I can craft with the exception of armor kits.
