ok, i know there some people ive seen on this board who believe shammies have issues in end game pve. what this thread has is the world first PTR kill of kalecgos on the sunwell plateau, as done by the alliance guild Vis Maior. theres some spoilers in the fight, so watcher beware.

if you have issues with the codec download the player at:

http://www.videolan.org/

this video shows three shaman being used. two restos (a female and male draenei) and an enhancement (a female). they also use a ret pally. the hunter in question is likely in the same group as the enhancement shaman, as she gets rather close to the boss (for a hunter) likely for the unleashed rage buff and totem buffs.

essentially, its the most cutting edge raid content available today, and proof that 2/3 of the shaman specs have strong places in end game pve. so if anyone tries to tell you that shaman are useless end game, show them this video and shove a searing totem up their ***.

That will be nice Quor. Alas, most of everyone I meet on the oceanic realms do not question the Shaman's end game viability. They only question the player's skill, but I will keep this for any future encounters with the ignorant kind.

I don't think anyone here has ever questioned Resto's viability period outside of PvP, and even I don't question DPS Shaman's viable in raid content. After the reqs are met (tanks, healers, CC, etc...), DPS Shaman are perfectly fine. The only issue I've ever had with them is in heroics.

well, heroics are a ***** for anyone. ive had to respec prot on my warrior and resto on my druid from time to time to tackle certain heroics properly. but thems the breaks really. thankfully, i think thats only limited to a few heroics, as most can be done with a good group if youre careful and creative.

I agree with Quor on the heroics bit. Just yesterday I had a guildmate (I'm new to the guild) ask if any dps wanted to join his grp for Heroic Arcatraz. I said "I'll go, ele spec!" and he responds, "Sorry need CC".

So...I check the LFG window to see his grp makeup. They consist of a hunter, a mage, warrior and priest. That's 2 CC already.

So I respond to him: "Oh, so I guess you'll never group with a shaman then?"
And he says: "Not for H. Arc, I like to be careful"

I tell him that I had just ran heroic arc smoothly (no wipes) with our guild leader and an dps warrior the other day (only 1 CC). He then tells me: "Sorry full now".

Least to say, I did not respond back.

About 20 minutes later, I get an invite without notice from a player I do not know and the guildie whispers me and asks if I want to join their arc group.
I join and we make it through the instance fine.

The only time I can think of when you would actually need 3 CC to make it through a heroic would be if your tank (or entire grp) is undergeared, or possible heroic Durnholde..that place is retarded, thank you Bliz for putting enhance pants there :P

Hell, on our first try, I tanked the first boss from Heroic Arc from 50% to 2% while 3/5ths of the grp was dead..soooooo close.

As far as heroics goes, more than anything it really just depends on your tank.

If you're looking to run heroics for the first time with pre-heroic instance blues and rep gear, maybe a few entry-level Kara pieces... You just can not afford not to have CC because you just can't do it otherwise. Your tank is probably not going to be able to take hits from more than one mob, two at the absolute tops.

Now, progress a little further and it's a different story. Getting a tank in full Kara epics or higher and he can probably tank 2-3 without issue. Gear beyond that level and you can probably run a heroic as though it were a regular instance.
