I hit 70 about a month ago and a week ago I starting raiding in Karazhan. My tailoring is getting up there and I got the pattern for the Spellstrike Hood. I was just wondering if making the FSW and Spellstrike would be worth it. When would I replace them? As of now, the only gear worth noting that I have is the T4 gloves, Gladiator's Staff and the Felweave Glad Head and Body pieces. I'm willing to make all my own cloth and get the pattern for the pants but I'm just wondering if I'll have them long enough to make it worth the time.

If it matters, I am Affliction specced.

Id say so. With all the sockets socketed with spell damage and spell hit they made a huge difference in my raid performance. With the set bonuses I cant find anything in the kara level Id want to replace it with.

i never bothered with the spellstrike set as i found it had too much wasted spell crit for an affl build.
i waited for the tribal fire pants from opera and got the S3 helm, i find they do the trick

i did get the FSW set as the shadow dmg is VERY nice on it, i will advise to get a pvp set though as the FSW has fook all STA

While FSW is nice, the Spellstrike set is amazing. It has amazing +damage, +hit (you won't find pieces with similar hit until T5 content) and +crit, 3 slots a piece and a really great set bonus that procs often. While you will have a little lower stam and int with the Spellstrike set, for raiding it doesnt really matter. Yes the extra int from some pieces is nice but the overall item value of Spellsrike is better. As long as you are around 8.5k mana and hp you will be fine.

@redbarronthesecond: There is no such thing as wasted crit. Even as affliction you will be spending 35-55% of your dps time SB spamming and you should always have Imp SB in any raid build. The more crit you have the more Imp SB will be up and the more damage your DoTs will do.

as the squirrel said. crit isn't wasted on afliction. ISB increases your dot damage and all other shadow damage anyone else does.
