Healing Druid in cloth?Follow

I am tossing around the idea of playing a druid and spec healing. Someone in our guild did that a long time ago and even became a tailor to get his mooncloth gear. I have read the "shopping list" threads on what different spec druids should aim for. How easy is it to really get this gear? How many healers are wearing more cloth than leather end game

I go with whichever has the best stats. I prefer leather, but i'd rather have more +heal & mana regen than a slight chance not to die if I pull agro.

I usually pass to priests first though and leather is definitely better for PvP.

Don't quite agree on this point. When in PVE, assuming all on similar gear, an upgrade for them is also an upgrade for you. Why shouldn't you roll on the gear at the same time as them? All 4 healing classes should have same priority.

Of course, as RareBeast said, leather is better for PVP.

I'd pass (assuming it is a decent upgrade for them) because I can roll on leather & cloth gear. They only have the option of cloth gear so it seems only fair to me. What happens if I roll & win, then another Leather piece drops that is equivalent? We DE it and it goes to waste. Better for them to get preference on cloth to make sure we can make maximum use of all gear that drops.

This will benefit the guild more.

I agree with RareBeast. Also -endgame has definitely got enough healing gear for each class. Ever wonder why there are 4 healing classes each with a different level of gear?

Priest = Cloth
Druid = Leather
Shaman = Mail
Pally = Plate

Unless you REALLY need an upgrade and the other class doesnt I personally believe you should pass. I have 1800 +healing and not a single cloth piece (except Back/Cloak - for those who are really pedantic). Our guild has some of our pallies with some mail but that is purely because we have only one resto shammy who is fully epiced already.

With regards to Primal Mooncloth? While it is a nice set (awesome for priests), the Windhawk(I think that's it) set from LW is great for druid healing too + you also get the added spell damage bonus. Overall LW > Tailoring for a druid.

For PvP you pretty much need leather gear with +armor, and for solo play I'd recommend as much leather as you can get. However, for groups, leather is virtually a luxury, my pally friend started kara off in cloth. On the priest forums someone mentioned the difference between imp inner fire and baic inner fire like this "It means the difference between getting 1-shotted for 17k vs. getting 1-shotted for 14k." In other words, a few cloth pieces aren't gonna hurt you.
But I would advise strongly against a full-cloth lineup. At that point, go priest.

Most of the people posted point out that in pvp leather gear is better, well of course its better but you can get good leather gear from arena points and honor.

For raiding the primal mooncloth set is great and far superior to the leather healing set.

The belt is the best piece for a resto druid and in my opinion is second only to the one out of ZA (life-step belt). The shoulders are easily replaced by T4 and some other pieces that are around T4 equivalent and the chest can last u up until T5 chest.

The set bonus makes this an even better set for a resto druid.

That's the practiacl way to see it, but there is another side to it, which is at least as important, by doing what Rarebeast suggested you both get an item, which makes 2 happy faces. That's compared to one happy face (and probably a grumpy one as well, and by right). Guild benefieting more is just a side bonus :)

Just remember to have fun while running the numbers which we usually call WoW(Matrix anyone?).
Have a nice day,
Yuval.

I pass on cloth when cloth-wearers are around because I know I'd feel homicidal if a shammy or pally rolled need on a piece of healing leather. Rawr.

That being said, if no one wants it, I grab it. The biggest difference in my opinion between cloth and leather is that you look like a priest wannabe when you wear cloth :P

The only time you should roll on cloth healing gear (or cloth gear at all) is if no other cloth wearers want the item. Leatherworking is just as good as tailoring for heal gear, but you must take Tribal and gem the gear for +heal.

I wear very little cloth, but cloth healing gear isn't bad for druids like it would be for paladin and shaman. Cloth heal gear usually has spirit on it.

I think that my philosiphy would be that for healers, and some DPSers, its not about the class of gear but the stats. so I would roll need if you saw something that would really help you heal better...cloth, leather, or whatever regardless of other party members.
