With all the negativity floating around the Shaman forums, I thought it might be refreshing to hear something positive for a change.

I love my Shaman. There, I said it. No matter how badly we may suck in PvP or how difficult it is for me to get a heroic party, I do truly enjoy my class when I get to cut loose and do my thing.

I think a lot of it has to do with respeccing Resto. I was Enhancement from 1-62, then Elemental from 62 into Karazhan and the arena. Elemental was ok in PvE, but I loathed it in PvP. It just wasn't fun being so easily dominated and our tools are just too easily taken away. I was basically being reduced to an instant-cast dueling Mage. About 200 battles with Rogues and Warriors later, during which I DPS'ed almost exclusively with shocks, FNT, and Flametongue on my auto-attack, I just had to stop and wonder what the !@#$ I was doing.

Resto is nails. I'm healing raids for a new guild now, grabbing some "phat lootz" along the way (<3 Shard of the Virtuous), and I've got two friends (leveling a 'Lock and Warrior respectively) that I'll be looking to start 2v2 and 3v3's with again as soon as they hit 70 on their new toons. It'll also help that said Warrior is one of the better tanks I've ever run with, so we'll be able to hit any instance and/or daily we want without batting an eyelash if he's tanking, I'm healing, and the 'Lock is spanking. Until then, I've been healing for some scrubby 3v3's in-guild, and even though we're horribly undergeared (or in my case mis-geared; I'm still in the process of replacing all my Elemental Glad and Vind pieces), I've been fairly satisfied with the results of my personal performance.

Would I be better off in PvE and/or PvP if I rerolled another class? Yeah, with absolutely certainty I can say that I am sure I would. But I'd rather just rebuild no matter how many times it takes. I'm still a Shaman at heart. If nothing else I enjoy the concept of the class, and at the end of it all my female draenei avatar is the hottest broad in the game IMO. (Yay chauvinism!)

Props Gaudian. I love my shaman and share some of your frustrations. If you read the WoW Official Shaman Forums they are waaaaaayyyyy more QQ than here at Alla. Every second thread is ..."EVERYONE CREATE LVL 1s on <X SERVER>", "Patch Notes: Psychiatric treatment NOW available for Shaman!", ...

Deviating from the shaman love theme, here's my new frustration: I'm trying to gear for enhance now and I'm finding that there is next to no entry lvl epic gear (pre-25man and pre-ZA) that is properly itemized for us.

Enhance are supposed to gear for strength first, yet barely any gear has strength on it...almost all the gear I have collected so far from heroics and crafted BoPs (Ebon Netherscale set, heroic drop boots, gloves and neck) are essentially designed for hunters, i.e. they are intellect and agi stat heavy.

Sure AP, AGI and Int will work...but I feel like the class is gimped by poor itemization. I'll end up sticking +9 Stre gems in all slots and ignore the +AGI bonuses :P

It sometimes takes a while to be able to see your own post. I have it happen to me every now and then

I love my shaman. There i seconded that emotion. No matter how badly we blow at pvp. There is just something about the shaman class that keeps me coming back. I wonder when the DEA is going to bust shamans for being too addictive.

I leveled enhancement since I had never played a melee class before, and while it was a nice change, it just didn't do it for me. Tried elemental out as well and trying to cast lightning bolt while being hit makes babies cry. So, I went resto. I started healing in BGs and am having a crazy fun time, usually 2-3 on the healing list in my crappy gear.

I healed my first instance tonight, Crypts. And while it was super easy as we were over-leveled it was still a lot of fun and a nice stress free way to learn to heal. Earthshield is my new best friend. I love it.

(Though I admit, I made a level one shaman on Tichondrius and suicide jumped from the flight tower in Org into the mass of bodies below, just because I thought it was funny)

I'm lucky in that I use my shaman primarily for the one thing we're considered really good with: PvE raid healing. I've tried healing on a paladin: way too boring. I've tried healing on a druid: way too frustrating. I love my shaman, especially now that Chain Heal targets its secondary jumps properly.

I do think that there is far more QQ than is warrented, but that may be a good thing. I firmly believe that shaman is one of the hardest classes to master, so there's bound to be some frustration. Although that's not to say that the negativity doesn't have merit. I'm pretty sure that this darkboard (http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/Nutype51/?action=view¤t=Newdartboard.jpg) is how blizzard decides who to nerf. = )

Edit: The ampersand does not register on alla for some reason. link = http: //s8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/Nutype51/?action=view[ampersand]current=Newdartboard.jpg

the other day the priest in our guild asked if I thought shaman were broken. I said no for pve (maybe for pvp). Though I did say it would be nice to have 5 min totems or at least have laying totems lose the gcd. GCD is a killer sometimes. Esp as I'm #1 healer now, and have a lot of responsibility for keeping the tank up. And some pulls in kara we have to run in and can't "pull". And he'll take a tone of spell damage right off the bat, and I don't have time to lay totems. So it would be nice to have totems that can be layed on the fly. And I figured if the pallies got their buffs increased, so should we. Totem timers will be nice though. As I never got around to downloading the mod :)

As for pvp. perhaps they are broken. I haven't done enough pvp to determine. But I do alright as resto. I can't really kill much. But as resto I should be healing others who can kill. I had this rogue and a hunter outside of TB thought they could take me. I kept myself alive long enough so the ret pally and arms warrior in my guild got to me and wasted them. Though the rogue probably sucked. Because against awesome rogues, well I spend most of the time stunlocked. But I have a weakness against rogues no matter what class I play. I just can't figure out how to beat them.

I love my shaman even if it is my friend's and not actually mine.
