Is there any formula or way of guessing whether Feign Death will work? I find Blizzard's wording of (often) or (usually) quite frustrating.
I have used it succesfully for a while now, but yesterday I was tackling a couple of raptors which were two levels higher than me, and they continued to munch on my body following FD.
Is it just hit and miss, or is there less chance of it working against higher level mobs?
Before anyone asks, I got the aggro because it was a new pet!

I'm not sure what the exact calculation for FD is but I do know that it stands a higher chance to fail against mobs that are a higher level than you<the more of a level diff the greater the chance to fail>
FD works like a spell, there is a slight chance that it will be resisted, and higher level mobs resist it more often, just like any other class using spells against a mob.

It might just be coincidence, but I seem to have better luck using FD from a ranged distance rather than in melee combat. The further away the better. But maybe that's just me imagining that it works better that way... :)
Yep. Distance seems to play quite a role into the success rate of FD.
I find that after takin a hit my FDs don't get resisted as much...of course it's likely a placebo effect for me, or i've been pvping too much.
