So the other night, Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix dropped for me and I was very happy, as it's a great upgrade from the Steelhawk Crossbow. I am a BM Hunter and know that the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle is better than Sunfury but have had absolutley no luck with the drop.
My dilemna is this: I have the mats for the 28 Crit rating scope and really just want to get done with Kara (I have everything else from there I could need or badge items that are equal to or better). Should I keep trying for the Gun and maybe it will drop in a month? less? who knows? or just scope the bow and be done with it? Will the DPS difference really be THAT much?
I'm really debating this because I'm a perfectionist/ elitist when it comes to my performance. I work my *** off to be the best I can be and fight for that top DPS spot because thats what Hunters are in raids... DPS. So I really wanna know if my DPS is going to be severely gimped or wil I be ok with the bow?

That will also be about 3,000 g right after 2.4 comes out.
for the cost people are going to be charging for it, it may not be that viable an option.
I am not buying any ranged weapons of epic quality the cost is obviously shall we say.... non condusive for avsing money for my epic flyer? in other words, ****!ng ridiculous.
I'd go for the Rifle now, but how hard is doomwalker.. really? he's a world boss so you can take 40 people up against him.
But back to the main issue, Just stay with Sunfury or tough it out for god knows how long and try for the Wolfslayer?

Lol, I just kid... in all seriousness, I can see where you're coming from. It would eat away at me knowing that I could potentially squeeze just a few more DPS from an item that could drop tomorrow or not for months...

So I ran the spreadsheet and did some math and the Gun comes out ahead for my build and gear by 12 DPS.... I'm not gonna cry about it, yeah it's nice, but I'm not going to grind through Kara for another god knows how long until it drops for that. I'll still be running every once and a while, so there is a possibility of it dropping, and if it does i'll be happy, but i'm not going to go out of my way to get it.
Maybe we'll take Doomwalker down soon and he'll drop the gun.... who knows. Thanks for the input.

Another option: spec SV and suddenly Sunfury des have the right speed =P

I agree, +/- 12 DPS isn't that much of a difference, at least not enough to warrant spending time in Kara if you can move past it.

I think I'm gonna see if Aethien can post the link to Cheeky's Spreadsheet in his guide. It's a very useful tool and I think it deserves a place there.... but for now, it's in my sig.

Before you start going after the Wolfslayer, check your latency. I usually have upwards of of 240 ms, which probably makes Sunfury as good as the rifle for me. I have both, but I haven't bothered to test them on dr Boom yet.
For PvP the bow is better ofc, and I can't be bothered with switching back and forth if the difference is marginal at best.
