Er, Barrens -> Ashenvale -> Darkshore I guess? All the way up north.

Might be hard if you're on a PVP realm.

The ghost saber is easy enough to get to , but remember to be at least 20 , it is a long run through Ashenvale from The Barrens to get to Darkshore , if you die you can always do the ghost run to the healer just outside Auberdine , then just head to the far north ,

In the ruins are small cat statues , but always seem to be near at least 2 naga , and the females throw a wicked frost-bolt , the cat spawns after you open the cat statues but it can take hours to get one to spawn as it is completely random , i have had the glowing cat statue drop ( which gives you a 10 minute fighting pet ) on the first statue and other times was more like 40 statues , the statues are not easy to find either , i suggest if you are ally get a dwarf to help you as their find treasure can see the statues.

as my main is 70 i have seen so many of the ghost sabers on horde side even a team of 5 hunters with them..

I had found about 4 figurines that spawn on the NW side of the ruins and would just go back and forth between the locations killing naga until I finally got one. I actually tamed some random plainstrider up there to help with the killing (some rare-silver dragon naga screwed up my first tame attempt and I needed a new pet).
It seems like half the hunters I see nowadays have Ghost Saber as a pet. I kept mine from 20-35ish then got tired of the faded look.

I still have my Ghost saber in my stables.
On my server at least, I see a fair few of them around, but people don't seem to stick with them all the way to 70, because i very rarely see a really high level one.
I am level 69 at the moment, and have trained a few remaining pets to get the rest of the abilities, so now I can keep 3 pets on rotation.
One is the Ghost Saber (now 66), one is an owl (for the screech debuff), and the last is an Ashmane boar I trained and am still levelling up (63 at the moment).
Despite the small increase in DPS I could get from a Ravager, I will be sticking with my cat.

It's a rough go for a horde to get at times. I brought my friend with my to deal with lower level problem alliance people. He was 67 at the time. I also needed his ice trap as I don't like getting wailed on the whole tame but we started getting camped by a lvl 70.

After an hour or so the 70 left and I found a statue that popped out the Ghost saber. I tamed it just in time to see that 70 come back. my other friend who was also with us spit on her and I was like later guys Im not sticking around to see the end. both of them died. She came to me and clapped and bowed for me and left. I guess it was a trial for my favorite pet. =D
