Ok. So I got my warrior to 70 and nearly done with getting epic geared and wanted something else to level while I take a sabatical from Warrior.

So - I am now lvl 16 rogue and have decided on 19/42/0 for a leveling spec (combat swords). My question is, since I cannot use backstab with sword, at what level do rogues begin to really using swords?

Also, if a combat sword spec cannot use backstab - what do they use? SAP + something else?

Thanks
B

I'll give you a hint;

It's a skill you got at level 1.

Thank you Iamthemiku for the helpful information.

As for Arc's hint - thanks - but wasn't that helpful in answering the question. But thank you for your efforts at being kind and helpful.

Simple question = simple answer.

Not really sure why everyone has to flame pretty much every post. Probably takes more time to think up the flame.

Of course the cookie cutter - "check the sticky's" is pretty easy.

Yes. It was a pretty simple question, that should've been easy to figure out.

And now let the likely flaming of me commence.

Generally what I do in a fight as a Combat-Sword Rogue is this:
Cheap Shot -> Slice N Dice -> Sinister Strike (repeatedly) -> Eviscerate

You don't get Cheap Shot until 26, but you get it before you can take Sword Specialization. Before Cheap Shot, you can use Garrote (@14) if you are dead set against using a Dagger main-hand even for a little while.

Cheap Shot is a great opener for Combat Swords, because with Improved Slice N Dice (and usually even without it), the 2 combo points easily give you that speed boost for a whole fight in PvE. And while it's stunned and you have Slice N Dice up, you can usually take a good chunk of HP out before it hits you back.

Cheap Shot as an opener, and I would forget the SnD and usually hit SS twice, drink thistle tea, SS again, by that time my cheap shot was up. Id use kidney strike. worked most of the time. But reading all these posts on how to play a Rogue I have certainly changed the way I play. And its been for the better.

I don't use openers, I just kill stuff.

Just make sure that if you're in a group doing a dungeon to NOT use cheap shot as an opener. It'll just take away from any rage the tank can generate... instead use something like garrote.

Sometimes Mobs can be downed in Cheapshot>Kidneyshot meaning no healing needed, therefore no mana breaks & much less down time. It can also be used to stunlock mobs that aggro onto healers from a bad pull or CC breaking early. You can always Blind them after the kidney shot & vanish off the aggro for your tank to pick up.

Although generally I just liked to **** off my tanks & give them something to work for.

Like being a hunter & using Misdirection on your healer. When you can confidently clear dungeons/instances its fun to mess around sometimes :p

Otherwise... yeah Nocturnal, generally its not a good idea to cheapshot.
