Ice block "training"Follow

I was in STV the other day, grinding out mobs for one of the mastery quests when I ran across a horde hunter. The hunter was also on the quest and was just tagging each of the mobs before I could get in range of them. I was using fireblast to pull so I could get the mobs that I needed.

This got me to thinking, is it possible to round up a bunch of mobs, lead them to some unsavory player and then ice block. Will that cause all of the mobs to target the other player? I know it's a totally dirtbag thing to do, I was just wondering if anyone has done this.

Thanks

If I am reading this correctly, No.
Iceblock protects you during it's duration. It has no threat wiping characteristic.

That is a tactic of FFXI You train (aka like a locomotive not like training a pet) the mobs toward lowbies and then you zone.

WoW doesn't have an equivilent for the most part.

1. You maintain agro when moving from location to location.
2. Mobs that you lose in agro - "Sprint" back to their area (aka Reset)
3. Mobs do not agro surrounding players.

Actually I believe mobs can be trained within a certain distance of their normal patrol area, but I do not see that iceblock drops your threat/aggro. Invisibilty does, but you'll be getting hit when you go to cast it unless you've rooted or polymorphed said mobs.

This is pretty much on the spot.
You can train within its short patrol distance, and if you Iceblock, upon hitting its first Immune, it will target another player in that short area if there is one.

But if you kite it out of its normal range and then Iceblock near another player, it will not notice that other player at all unless the other player does something to it, and it will continue trying to hit you while getting Immunes on your Iceblock, or will not have had enough aggro to its distance out of its area and will run back and reset.

Iceblock does not drop threat, mob AI just tries to attack others if the target they are attacking is Immune.

Doing this will probably get you banned. But the secret's not in the ice block. It's in the frost nova then blink.

Mobs will still attack things that they haven't aggroed if they're in reach and rooted.

It's actually a GREAT way to kill someone who is trying to kill you while you are in combat. I generally throw up ice barrier, run to grab another mob or two.... and ice block. The person thinks you are running away LOL when in reality... you're just grabbing 3 mobs to start beating on them.

Most people don't know that they're about to get attacked by other mobs when it happens, they freak out and either try to run (in which case cancel ice block and start hitting them) or start killing mobs... which you can also cancel ice block and join in the fun.

I tried this out by running past a mob, then running to an opposing faction player and hitting iceblock. The mob kept hitting the ice block. I will try again with someone that I am dueling to see if that works.

Only if you're doing it to your own faction. If you're doing it to the other faction, it's just clever use of game mechanics. ;)
