Hey, i just got my dwarven protection warrior to level 68 and im getting tired of pve. i leveled it as protection from level 15 to this level. it went a bit slower then other players but im pretty happy with it. If i want to do a quest alone it is quite a pain. I stay mostly in def stance and i kill slow, very slow and i can kill 3 or 4 mobs before i have to eat. Now i use a one hander and a shield but is that smart for leveling? Or should i pick up a huge 2hander or go dual wielding and just spam devestate, use thc and battleshout? I really need to know what rotations i should use while leveling while keeping this build, or link a good build for tanking 5 man instances and leveling.
Greetings

Good job leveling in prot. I wouldn't have had the patience. The best lvl'ing build would be a fury build(see the stickies for builds). The Imp. Slam 2h build is another viable PvE/lvl'ing build.

For rotation, I reccomend 5x Sunders/devastate and Shieldslamspam. Throw on a Demo Shout and Thunderclap. Keep the sunders up at all time. You might want to try out to fight in other stances than def, like zerker or battle. They contribute great abilities such as overpower, execute etc...

Well, im doing as you say now and to be honest it goes pretty well :>
Im experimenting with a shield block just before the mob hits 20% hp and change to battle stance to get out a crit.. dunno if it is good but im checking it out now.
thanks for the reply :>

I also leveled my 67 warrior up as full Prot as well. I've found the best way for me to solo is to DW and spam devastate in berserker stance. I carry two sets of gear...one prot set and one "fury-ish" set. Throwing on the high crit "fury" set and wailing away on mobs is a blast. I keep my shield on a hot key so I can switch it up if I get in over my head.

This tactic works well for me. And I kill most non-elites very quickly. Just carry some food for the downtime. Which isn't as frequent as I had expected.

i tried a few approaches when i got into outlands.

2h weapon just doesn't work with prot spec, so forget it.

when i compared dual wield with 1h + shield, i liked 1h + shield a lot more. the extra damage mitigation means you spend a lot less time eating and it doesn't take much more time to down the mob. have a set of gear with strength and AP to solo in.

i'm always in battle stance to solo - the rotation i like is demo shout(if melee) + TC on every mob, then just spam devastate and hit overpower when it lights up. shield slam and HS use to much rage to be useful when you're alone.

your spec is very close to what i use, except i'd rather have toughness maxed out than tactical mastery.

To be honest, i tried a lot of styles now. And i agree with you.
I use a one hander and a shield and always stay in battle stance..
It helps indeed in damage recieving. And because i use my def gear i don't get a lot of hits :> Also i use rend and hamstring, so when a mob is like 50% i run away, go in berserker stance and charge back into him. Gives me a stun and mostly a crit.
Now leveling is easy! too bad i had to be level 68 to find it out ^^.
Thanks people!
